SEASON 2 STATE FINALS

Postby Garth Kay » Tue Dec 11, 2007 2:32 pm

Hi Guys,
State finals will be Saturday, January the 12th.
The venue will be the Port Club.
Registration will commence from 9am and the tournament will kick off at 11.30 am.
There will be no flight system with all players being seated at once, we are expecting anywhere from 500 to 650 players, with over 750 players qualified it will be a big day of poker.
I am looking to maybe change the start stack and blind levels slightly but if I do that we are looking at over 14 hours from start to a winner being declared.
BIG DAY!
Good Luck all!

Can anyone put a figure to how many are going to qualify from venues that have only participated in part of the season?

edit: Yes, self interest motivates this question :P

Cheers

Well, yes...they're participating so they're participating :)

5 from each venue, same for all of them.

Before you ask.... I believe it's to do with all of the venues being able to offer their customers the same minimum end result.

Would you go to a venue that just started up if you knew there was nothing for the top 5?
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Fair call - I was expecting that line, but there were a few dissenters when I've asked around before. Along the lines of need to be fair to players having gone thru larger/longer fields. But I guess NPL has to look after the venues as much as the players, and offering state final spots is a big part of that.

Cheers

Yep, it's probably fair to point out that there was nothing stopping those 'dissenters' from playing in the smaller fields/newer venues themselves :)

Someone has said to me today that a (senior?) TD has specifically said only 3 will be going thru from the late starting venues.....

Well the operations manager is informing you that all venues top 5 players will be going through, no matter if it finished before the end of season or started earlier.
For many reasons, the main one being it is too much to try and organise at the end of the season, if only some venues have top 3 and others have top 5 going through.
It's a big day of poker what's another 50 going to matter.
Who was this senior TD, please pm me.
