aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggh
My first post here in a lllllllooooooooonnnnnng time leads me to deliver the bad news that the Palais has pulled the pin and will not be hosting games next season.
As a player who has been there since season 1 and possibly played more games there than anyone else, I have to say I fell cheated and pi$$3d off.
Numbers have been dwindling for a while but I have my suspicions as to the reasons. Nuff said on that.
Big thanks tho to all the TD's and TA's who have put in the hours over the last year, most notably Alex. Cheers Alex. You know I stormed outta there tonight because of that announcement and it would take a lot to get me back there now. I aint gonna spend another cent there if they can't get their you know what together.
Now time for me to find a new venue for my weekly game. Will it be the Portland or Crows?

Wait a minute.
Why are you so angry at the Palais? Ok, so its your favourite venue, and they're dropping NPL, it sucks. But why act like a baby about it? Did you really storm out? The Palais have their own reasons for leaving NPL and they're fully entitled to. The way you're going on about it it sounds like they poisoned your mother.
I'm just trying to understand.

Re: Semaphore Palais Pulls the Plug
I think that there are reason for every decision made and some times we do not know all the facts.
The Palais have been a great supporter of NPL since the start and are taking a break that's not to say that they won't return at a latter date
I thank the palais for all their support and hope to be back there soon.
But I am sure if the numbers would increase then this decision could be reversed .So if you have not been down for a while come along .Remenber that they give $150 CASH FOR FIRST AND OVER $3000 PER SEASON.

Re: Semaphore Palais Pulls the Plug
This is unsurpsiring news - in ther western suburbs there have been a few venues choosing not to have NPL anymore. It is a shame, but unsurprising and probably many factors instigate it, like numbers and such, but having been a staff member at an NPL venue behind a bar it is mind boggling to witness *some*, of course not all, but some behaviour is disgusting by people that think they have a god given right to trash hotels at will.
I heard that my hotel is considering not running NPL next season either and all the staff to be frank won't miss it due to some things that have happened... hmmm

surely these issues need to be brought up with management instead of posting on here?

Re: Semaphore Palais Pulls the Plug
Exactly, the NPL isn't responsible for the western suburbs being the western suburbs (and yes I have lived there thank you for asking).
The Palais is/was the standout venue in the NW, it shat all over every other venue in that region and Matt (the manager) is a decent and honest guy so without knowing any details it does seem harsh to be pointing fingers.
It's very sad to be hearing that they are having a break as with summer approaching the appeal of the place increases even more.
I'd actually get on my hands and knees and beg Matt myself to still host a teams event there this summer.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

They are starting renovations, so I doubt that would happen mate. I'm pretty sure upstairs is being used as their main bar while downstairs is being gutted and upgraded.

Excuse my obvious ignorance but isn't this a forum for NPL? Geez I know this isn't a post about Gawler like the usual (and don't go crazy that is a slight minded joke) but I should be able to post something based on opinion about a venue I have attended and an area I do actually work in... come on
