How does the GF/ME affect the prize distribution for state finals?

To expect around 40 tickets to be generated in SA means there are a LOT of players who consider the state final to be their big event.

And it therefore means that the "big" news of the purchase does zero to benefit them, and in fact detracts value.

The "a $10k freeroll" line only goes so far, when you factor in the ME ticket you may or may not be able to use or transfer, and the amount if time and money spent at venues each and every week. It's that money spent that indirectly funds the freeroll.

lol lol and lol going backwards rapidly, its a social game people want to play, not a Main Event in 98% of people situations. Do the Maths if you want to play at a high level pub poker will not do it for you. Spend X$ to maybe win a seat, spend X$ more to go to that event in another state, to play in an event where luck to skill ratio is bad then get on board, ill say more will get off the train and not care in the future.

Alienate your true social players, take away their fun in their own state, got it wrong i say. In the case of the merge Bigger is not always better.

I will be thinking of playing more online, decent pub cash games any league, and what i save on joker poker ill put towards playing a quailty tournament here in SA. I couldnt of given a hoot about playing the GF if it wasnt for the social aspect of the weekend, kid yourself if you ever think it will a weekend away twice a year with good mates.

good point Andrew, the best part about the 888pl gf was the fact that EVERYONE could go and play it if they wanted, so it was fun to catch up with mates from all states.

Although i am excited about the main event in terms of the prize pool etc, it will be disappointing if none, or only some of my close mates wont get to come play too.
