JJ a person can play 40 games, and only his or her top 10 qualify are used for the average on the regional leaderboard.

so this person only has to point in 10 out of their 40 games to "fill up" their top 10 games.

a person that plays 20 games in a season has to point 50% of the time in order to just fill up their top 10 games with non-DNPs.

so you can see its a lot easier to make a better average the more games you play - same principle works for the state leaderboard.

I cannot see many options of how to select a team the represent a region in RoO event.

If its just a group of players nominating for a teams event from a region at best it would be a meaningless event, the event needs to have at least some purpose other than a mob of poker tragic's playing in an event that would have no bragging rights. I for one would find it hard to support an event which selected its players from I wanna play player, surely you must earn your position.

Yes Macca it is harder to reach the top 10 or 20 in a regional leaderboard if you play a limited number of games a season, if the regional leaderboard is not the selection then perhaps every region should have a regional championship event and from that the top 10/20 players would be nominated for the regional team, so benny the cunt you would have to perform on that one big day.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

why does it need another purpose than this? surely this is why we play pub poker and not go to the casino or something?

i know what you are saying, but i think making it exclusive would sort of kill the idea rather than enhance it.

No business is going to chose to exclude any other their paying patrons for something like this, unless..... it was promoted for the last half of the season that the season after would see the top x from each region play off in some sort of final. Stupid idea, much better to let people make their own region themed teams. End of story IMH(?)O ;)

Anyway, region of origion doesn't hold as much meaning for people who don't live in regional SA

representive teams from each region consisting of either 4, 6, 8 players.

first qualifiying criteria .... make your Regional Leader Board./ State leader Board if not a regional type of player./ staff ?? included in a regions team maybe.

second....limit nos of teams per region ..keeps control of total numbers.. [ also allows regions to unite if small nos/interest from a region ie SEast , Eyre.].

allowing individuals to nominate allows pier groups to form from venues ...oldies... young gunns.. females , state leaderboards. which would encourage rivivalries , bragging rights...etc.

self team nominations would allow a selection of styles and talents to be recruited to strenghten your team.

....nb.............random thoughts present !

I don't need to read proceeding posts.

This was a poll to ask IF you would be interested in a generic "region of origin event". Why anyone is now presupposing this hypothetical event will be a limited, representative event is beyond me, and missing the point.

Whilst there is a real possibility of some form of teams event taking place after this season, absolutely nothing has been set in stone as far as structure or format.

A new thread will be started for all to discuss their ideas on a teams event that might have regions of origin (which is still a generic, undefined term) as its base.
