Have to agree with that! I had my spare ticket for sale originally for $250 + 10%, but got to thinking on it. I won 2 tickets in $10 rebuys that cost me a total of $110, plus got the extra one from the Semi (bonus basically for free), so essentially 3 x $500 tickets for $110. I am using 2 of them (this GF + next GF) so should be happy with that. I for one would feel a little funny taking another $3000 (let alone $6000) off of someone (if they win) who has already paid me $250 for the privelidge of playing the event!! They are the ones who have earned that...

I know deals are part and parcel, but when you sit back and think about it, why be greedy? You should be happy that you were able to help someone else out and still ahead of the game anyway!!

Anyway, good luck to all competing at the GF on the weekend, win, cash or lose, you are all in for a fantastic poker experience!!!
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

But your basing your decision on the fact that you have your ticket for this gf and next GF already sown up and that the 3rd is just a bonus

what about if you only had 1 ticket and you couldnt make the GF because of work comitments or somesuch, would you be happy with 150 then

the tickets are supposably worth $500 each so why shouldnt some one beable to sell them for a value close to that.

And if they cant get that sort of cash then take the %, and hope your horse runs good, this is part of main stream poker, people take stakes in other players every day.

By talking the way you are you are just devaluing the actual worth of the ticket
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Not really Krunchie,

If you only have 1 ticket and can't play, the 888pl guys have said that you still have a chance to transfer it to the next GF (under the right circumstances). So you hold a ticket that RETAILS for $500. Generally, this means if you are selling on the side (i.e. not direct from the issuer), it is worth alot less. So let's say it is worth $400. For $150 discount, they are willing to give you an extra $6000 on top if they win!!

Kinda similar to betting $6000 on a horse to win an extra $150 from their point of view, when you think about it!!!!!

i look at it this way

i ran 16th at the last Gf which i consider was a great run, and it netted me $1100

it will take a special run to get that far and you have pretty small margin of error to get there.

Now if i sold my ticket for $250 and 10% and this player manages to make the top 16 then i will get $360 total

do you see where im coming from now

you blokes keep going on about $6000, but there is a 1/200 + chance of that happening

i say if your horse is good enough to run that deep and you have a saddle on it then you deserve your slice.

understand your point, and a player who cashes in your example comes off no different than a player who pays $360 outright for the ticket (and neither do you).

It is the potential loss of a really deep run (FT and above) that makes taking a deal not worth it (it's not like it is a $10k buyin, most people can afford an extra $150 if they really want to), so the potential risk loss far out weighs the immediate saving....

I'm not saying that running deep is easy, far from it, but the fact is if you enter this type of tournament, you should never enter it with the mindset that "it is really hard to run deep, so I should try and get into it as cheaply as possible!" That mindset can cost you alot of money!

Also Krunchie, I believe you are devaluing YOURSELF in your example. I recon you would be more likely to run deep in a GF than most people you would sell your ticket to, so keeping it until the next GF and playing it yourself would make the most sense in your case mate...

As far as my ticket goes, I have no regrets whatsoever, I sold it to someone I have known for a while and who's poker game I really respect. If he does well on the weekend, I will feel much better patting him on the back and saying "well done mate" than putting my hand out for my cut of what he has earnt.....

I absolutely agree with you mate, if that was an option that i had.

Unfortunatley i was not given that option, I actually had pre aranged to roll my ticket over on the day of winning it, as i imidediatley knew i would not be avalible to play, and initially that was fine by 888pl.
Unfortunatley within a week the goal posts changed and i was informed that i could only roll over a ticket if i had 2 and still played 1 of them.

I have been through the options and the only 1 left for me was too sell it.

in a perfect world i would love to think we could get nearly 100% value on the ticket when we sell it ( ie 400 + ) but i can tell you thats just not what the punters have in mind, it seems the actuall value of the tickets is more around 200-300.

Because of this i say if your lucky enough to have a slice of a player that runs deep and you get a bonus, then great because you wont get the true value of the ticket any other way.

Think of it this way.....

The GF ticket you won, depending on how you won it (re-buys, online) etc would have cost you somewhere between $20-$120. So unless you spend ridiculous amounts of money in re-buy tournaments, you have already made a profit as that ticket is worth $500.

Now say you have played in countless re-buys and not managed to win a ticket.....you have already spent X amount of dollars trying to get one and you now find out there is one for sale at $250 plus 20% winnings. So you buy one and lets say hypothetically you happen to make it to final table and cash around $2000. Now you have to give up $400 to the original purchaser which leaves you with $1600. Minus the $250 you paid for the original ticket you have a net profit of $1350 and the ticket you initially bought for $250 has now cost you $650. So instead of winning $2000, you have now only won 2/3 of what you initially earned. The higher you get, the more you have to give up.

All I am saying is try to think of it from the buyers point of view......its all well and good to demand prices for a ticket once you have one......but im sure if the shoe was on the other foot you wouldn't be so willing to share a portion of your earnings (especially if you had to give up $6000 if you won it).

Share and share alike! ;)

Last season I won three tickets and GAVE them away for $0!

Of course, they were to Scott and Muzz (my brothers) so it's different :)

And I was in for 50% of their winnings.

Yes, tongue in cheek, although this is probably closer to a real stake!

Would you give your ticket away for free and take a 50% stake, in the right person?
