i have a couple of suggestions:
i like to think i can shuffle and deal quickly, but i know that there are some people out there that absolutely hate it. (not to mention the incredibly slow people)
how much do you think it would cost the NPL to buy some automatic card shufflers for each table?
a downside would be that people don't learn how to shuffle, but i think there would be a lot more hands played per blind level, which is always a good thing.
secondly, another way to speed up play might be to put a 30 second time limit on play. lets face it, this is not WSOP, if you are taking longer than that to make a play, you are grandstanding.
this one would be a lot harder to police, but it would further speed up play, and answer dug's queries.
thoughts on this?

I like it benny the cunt.
I dont think one TD would disagree!
Lets get back to the good ol' days where we used to have 15 people out before the first break

I've only seen automatic shufflers that are loud as anything.
Also, having everyone deal gets everyone involved, and I think it even goes a small way towards making better players.

A shitload.
Every single table? Come on, that's excessive. We don't need card shufflers.

Don't need card shufflers. Here's how to shuffle... Put all cards on table and swirl around for 2 seconds. Pile up, and move them around for another 4 seconds. Cut cards. All done in 10-15 seconds. Another who does the two pile thing more than twice is wasting time...
And if it's your turn to cut, don't look around at other tables.

that would not eleviate the problem as then you would get "dealers" who would feed the thing for half a day.

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
no need to tell me how to shuffle, i am the best in the game! part dakota style, part darren style, part bennymacca style.
i am a gun dealer as well
and yes, i dont like card shufflers either, but i was trying to think of a way to speed up those times where u have a few pissed dudes on ur table, and end up playing only 5 hands in the first 2 levels.
just make the TD announce that the cards only need to be put through once. easy
AK i know that WE dont need card shufflers, but there are plenty of people that do need them. or at least some shuffling lessons.
and bulk buying them, i doubt they would cost any more than a deck of plastic cards
maybe the TD/ATD could help out and give a few lessons when they are not signing people up before a tourney?

benny the cunt, I admit at times I do take far to long to make a decision, I wish I could admit it is grandstanding, but in all honesty it isn't.
It is a geuine attempt to work out if I should hold or fold.
I realise for alot of players out there it is a natural thought process, but I have to admit, for me personally that is not the case.
I would however welcome someone saying "Time" to me if they felt I was going too long.
But I agree, there are ALOT of very good people out there that do this just as a grandstanding gesture, but isn't that part of the game?

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
If you get card-shufflers, people will still take ages to act.
If you put a time-limit on play, some people will still use all their time. You won't get people playing faster.
I can't remember, but if the TD spiel doesn't say that we are playing a Turbo tourney, then it should. I think I've heard it before, but not sure.
It's the people who are having a conversation while shuffling, and shuffling for a minute that frustrate me more. Can't you do two things at once!!
Don't blind levels online increase after 15 minutes? Doesn't that say we are playing slower at the beginning anyway?
