I've inherited a 1969 XW Fairmont GS in Reef Green. It's been in the family a while, the original 302 Windsor has been replaced with a Cleveland, but other than that it's completely original, including 4spd manual. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll have a bit of cash saved up and can give it a decent resto.
That's a nice Chrysler you've got, clean and original. your son's silvia looks familiar, who raced it previously?

Thanks for the interestTroy. The XW's are/were a great car shame they changed to the heavier block as the Winsor is a lot lighter motor.

He bought it from a guy in NSW off Ebay who only ran it a couple of times until he got a mystery illness. The colour is the same as the latest Holden Ute with a pearl top coat.

It's very similar to the original colour but there was a heap of rework done to the panels etc. The front and back bars are now held on with two large dzus fasteners for easy removal. The big opening at the front has been enlarged for more air and the same for the air ducts to the front rotors. The lights on the front and the front bar were held on by electrical ties.

Here's another pic of the car when he bought it as you can see the smaller opening and no indicators.

[quote="troyh"]Hey Bob, can you post those pics of your sprintcar please, I'm sure if I see the car I'll remember who you are from the speedway days, can't quite recall at the moment.

Here you go M8, hope you like a good to fair read, LOL  .

Not sure how far some of you guys go back so I'm gonna go back to 76 / 77 season. The one where I'm sitting on the side rail (yes that's me) is the car we built and I drove from the 76 / 77, 77 / 78 Seasons at Rowley Park.

I ran a Slant six Valiant motor at first which we actually stood upright (vertical) and reconfigerated the sump as the motor was leaning the wrong way (Gravity on the outside of centre). It ran like a cut snake and I only blew a couple of motors in the first season.

I actually took out "Most Improve Driver of the year" in my first season plus, "Top "B" grade Driver".

The second season The Engineers at Chrysler heard about my efforts and the need for more power so they (Chrysler Australia)actually donated their #5 E49 Bathurst Motor. I also picked up my major sponsor JM insurance Brokers and actually joined their sales team in January 79.

We threw the Webbers away, well not really we gave them to one of the engineers who helped us out as I wanted to run the Methanol through a Magee fuel injection system that we redesigned to run on Methanol fuel.

That car was so, so, strong and revved like buggery but it did lack the grunt of a 350 Chevvy, LOL. I could sorta keep up with them but it was bloody hard to pass them. ;) If the track was rough I drove better for some reason. :P

I ran "A" Grade all season and back marker with the likes of Billy Wigzell, Phil Hereen, Ray Skipper, Peter Denton all 350ci Chevys, Bob Linke, Bob Ailsbury, Zeke Agars and Johnny Moyle, Chas Colandra to name a few.

I finished high in the top ten point scorers, took out Most Improved again and from memory runner up "Driver of the Year".

The second picture was a car that we also built from the ground up with a 350 Chevvy as a power plant. My brother "Little John" as he was known, Bob Linke and myself spend hours and hours building the car and getting her to race condition. Money was tight so where we could frabricate or make it ourselves we did.

I drove that car at the opening night ot Speedway Park and if you ever went there in the opening year the track had so muck grip even I could stand her on the rear wheels. And rough, jesus the track got rough, I got tough and won a few features to go with it.

Crashed out badly in the 79 Sprint Car title. Did a motor later in the year but still finished with a couple of trophys and some sponsors.

That's enough for now as I'm sure I've used up more than my allocated space for the month......LOL

benny the cunt was asking me via PM for me to write something so I hope you and benny the cunt like the pics and anyone else who has a read and a look at my post. :D

My favorite pic is the grey one as I was entering turn three off the back straight. The attitude and setup of the car that night was awsome. It was like I was running on rails and took out the feature that night.

My right arm the next morning would be all bruised from the clay coming off the back wheels of the other cars in front. We later designed a side guard for protection. The following week everyone had one LOL.

I love looking at this pic because the front end is working to the limit, I'm looking out the side of the roll cage crossed up as far as I can and just powering throught the corner. It doesn't get any better thasn that moment in time when everything is running hot. ;)
