I agree with trishan here. If i have the choice of playing 89 suited UTG with 10BB or waiting two hands and having a button and 8.5BB then i think im choosing the latter. With the turbo-ish blinds in these tourneys (even the late games) 10BB is prob an average stack at this stage of the game. So even though 10BB sounds short, it might not even be that short.
The fact that everyones stack is reasonably short means that you still have decent fold equity if your shoving, even with 5-6 BB. I would wait for a better spot.
Help me on this one.

Not played much against AK, but he definitely has my respect.

Definitely I would have mucked to a raise pre from you.
And while your right, UTG limp should indicate strength:
a) I wasnt sure if you were playing with that in mind, as you yourself have said to me on this forum not many players respect position, and it can be a mistake to play as if they do (amongst other things)
b) I was pretty confident you were capable of exactly the play you made. I actually decided you had some kind of draw or a strong Queen and were trying to get me off a weak Queen...
I certainly didnt put u on a stone cold bluff... I thought when I called my Ace was about a 65% favourite or something... as it turned out I was more like a 90% favourite.
Macca, just FYI, stacks ranged from 155K to 21K. Avg: 200x2000/7 ~ 57K, so neither of us really have a lot fold equity here...
Aaron, do you want me to post full HH?
Did you say I can be a nit?
Actually Aaron, early at that first table I was getting sweet F all hands, that was partly a 'frustration' play, first semi-playable hand I had in many an orbit... Also I sometimes test to see who is noticing and maybe thought I was just being really tight. (table split after about 3 levels)
Early in freerolls (and when deepstacked), I like to see cheap flops from LP with a lot of different hands (probably 76s+), to work on my post flop game. I don't do this all the time, but do sometimes use freerolls for experimental purposes...
Yeah, I said in the chat "How big is your Ace?", but it was just table talk, I did consider at first you might have one, but basically called cos I thought you'd have raised with better than me if you were going into the pot from EP at all. Also, again a major problem with text only communication, in my head when I said "How big's your Ace" the emphasize was on your... ie basically tellin you I had one...
I also have to say the freeroll aspect didnt affected my decision to call. Had that been the FT for BIG $$, I am still calling as once I reach the FT I play for the win. I only (sometimes) vary my game in freerolls early, or deepstacked, for experimental purposes.
This is a good thread, cos we can both discuss out thoughts on the hand as we saw it
I would never reraise an UTG limp with only A7o from the BB, unless I had a big Stack-BB ratio, and thought I could induce a fold.

So, Aaron (and anyone else of course), what are your thoughts on how I played in that hand? What would you have done had situations been reversed?

Thinking players (like yourself) respect position. The majority of 888pl players don't.

Blast! Maybe next time then

Its not really relevant, we've covered everything.

Its just the impression that I formed. Obv its not a basis on your play style, as we had never played together before, but added together with all the other factors, it contributed to my shove.

Obv my aggressive image has some drawbacks

I thought you played it fine. Leading there is definitely standard, and calling the shove is fine. If I was in that situation I would've bet the flop, and called the shove (wouldn't have been too happy about it though).
