Thanks for all the messages and the railing on here, guys. I'm stoked
Cheers also to Des for coming down at the pointy end to support me, as well as wearing his thumb out texting Pete live updates. I was pretty well supported on the rail down there
Still annoyed at the way I went out, could have gotten away from that hand and left myself with about 200k. But the information I'd gathered on Julian over the course of the final table led me to believe he had marginal holdings, and being 4 handed, I was prepared to get it in there, believing I'd be a favourite. Not to be - the one time I call when he played back at my button raise, he wakes up with aces
Lucky to survive beyond eight place though, with Dakota doing what Dakota does best. When the blinds were at 12k/24k/2k, and me on the blinds in two hands, I threw in my remaining 37k with A9. There was an all-in over the top, and another all-in over that. They flip over AK and (i think) QJ.
With the rail yelling for a nine, Dakota slowly rolls a flop of A .. 5 ... 9. Awesome, I might live to fight another day.
He then slams down the turn .... K. S***, now where did I put my keys?
With more shouts of "nine!" from the rail, Dakota holds the river card aloft and slams it down .... a freakin' nine. I almost fell over when I saw it.
Will throw up some more stories from the day as I remember them ... but I'm still knackered, and my brain is having a hard time remembering some of the play from earlier in the day.
Fantastic day - run brilliantly by all involved.
