read the thread again pete. they now carry a 1x multiplier. garth has changed it about 5 pages back

Up to $4.99 = 1 X points multiplier

Is this what you mean benny the cunt? If so the spreadsheet contradicts this and has 0 points for the free rolls.

The P&P cards are great, but where are they? How can you get them? Players who don't want to use credit cards (either they don't have one or they don't trust online transactions) have resorted to giving a friend money and having them transfer the money into their online account.

I would hope all Tournament Captains would have them!

And there's nothing wrong with giving someone else money to transfer you :)

sorry pete, i think i stand corrected on that one. my overall opinion on the freerolls hasn't changed though.

they are essentially like a debit card with a set amount on there. they come in increments of 30 aud. ask your TD in venue, he/she should have some on hand, and if not, will be able to get one by the next week i would say

As far as I know they're like hen's teeth.

Nothing wrong with it at all. It's a solution people have used due to the unavailability of the P& P cards.

Sounds like they need to stock up on them, especially with the new changes

So basically the whole complaint here is that there is no points for freerolls anymore?

With all the talk of application of fiscal logic and elitism, i think this got lost in your message peter :D

There are of course pros and cons with any change in competition structure - some will like it and others will hate it. As as gundog said, people will vote with their feet.

The first couple of weeks will certainly be interesting to see numbers in particular games.

As Garth said, people wanted to play freerolls are NOT being excluded. There are still freeroll events on the schedule available to play, and there is still some reward for doing well in these. Of course people could always go to a live event for their dose of free poker if they so choose.

So i guess the whole debate is whether people who exclusively play online freerolls deserve to play at semi finals? My answer to that question is no.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

LOL they were side issues that were raised.

A league structure was set up to include free rolls online that gave the players points in the league tables. Now, for financial reasons, these are being taken away and replaced by something that doesn't give them anything apart from the off chance of possibly winning $100 **IF** they can play all 3 games and FT. So why would you play 888PL free rolls?

I understand the business side as I understand the outrage of people paying to score points. I can also see that some people are being disadvantage by the removal of the point scoring free rolls and I can also see that to continue to be part of the league online players are being forced to buy-in - something many people are not comfortable with as they see it crossing the line and becoming a gambler.

I don't think replacing the point generating free rolls with this dubiously structured free roll is the answer.

I could play Devil's Advocate further and poke serious holes the structure of the proposed new free rolls but I expect it would not serve any purpose.

I guess my main problem is that I don't think games that weigh HALF of the total importance needed for points races are also considered on the other hand as a value add.

IMHO, the freerolls had TOO much value.

In saying that, to win the dreamteam, you really need to win/place high in the Murrin Mania and AK events, and generally in doing so, you spend money. So to score well, you can't play freerolls.

Unless I'm mistaken.

To play Devil's Advocate, often when people pay for entry, they become LESS of a gamblor and MORE of a poker player ;)

I think a business should cater for ALL demagrafics of people !

I mean , i know it is not poker nor related in any way , but for eg. the local fish shop guy turns away a customer who wants $2 of chips because minimum is $4 , why would he ? A $2 sale is better that a $0 sale ! !

The customer you turn away has friends that won't come and so on and so on ! !

With the revised version games point system i think we will see clearly within the first weeks which games will be popular and which wont .

I am a little concerned , as why would you pay $6 and $8 for 3x points when a little extra gets you 10x points ?

I did like the $ x multiplyer in the first draft , but also did think the 20x was a tad large ! Maybe keep the $ x multiplyer but cap it at 10 x !

Some very fair and valid points here in this thread , and i am sure all of it is being taking in !

Keep up the good work guys !

Oh , will the points multiplyer system be the same (as new online) for venue games or is there something in the pipeline for them too ?
Cos wouldn't a venue freeroll then have no points attached ?

Cheers Phil
When choosing between the 2 evils , I like to choose the 1 i haven't tried yet !

Chips are like burley , ya need to spread a little around to attract the fishies ...
