How about we change the redraw card system?

Should you be chipped up to $2000 if you have less than that when your card is redrawn?

Darren: Sometimes ;)

It happens, buddy. Just last night I found myself with $1000 at the end of the final break (18 runners left). Coming back, I was big blind all in in two hands. I went all in J9, first hand, had a caller with AK and I hit the straight. Doubled up. Next hand, big blind, all in on AJ. Doubled up again. I finished 8th at the end of the night.

Garth Kay wrote:But these people who blind themselves out because they continue to wait for a lock hand or who limp into pots and then fold to a raise or fold their Big Blind for an additional 1000 or whatever.
Gamble people, push your chips in, go for the double up and then go for the win, don't try and limp for the points.
I have to repeat this is my own personal opinion, I am always sitting down in a tournament gunning for the win. I like to accumulate chips early and then gamble a lot when the blinds are up. No point folding or calling off your stack on your way to the points.

That's your opinion, and that's cool and all, but Staff don't play for points - we do. Maybe for you hardcore players its different, but for some of us, making the points (and therefore top 5) is a big deal. You're always going to get players limping for points. I have to say I agree with the "all or nothing" theory though (unless I'm gunning for top 5 near the end of a season :P)

David wrote:BUT IN SAYING THAT - it does seem wrong that you can come in with MORE chips than someone still in.

Good point. But like Garth said, how many players are you going to find with $2000 or less at that stage of the game anyway? I'd say under 5 or less. And the chances that their name will be called out? Very low.

Pete: Excellent! I've got to say from a player point of view, giving someone an extra (at the most, $1500 chips) is better than having someone (who could be a better player) come back in with $2000.

thats pretty true pete, i think that the second redraw is a little unfair to people still in the tournament in some respects. i understand its used to keep people around and spending money in the pubs, but in my opinion, sometimes its a little too close to the points to be bringing in players at the second break.

i do however agree 100% with bad beats and redraws at the end of the first break.

I actually dont reeaaally mind the 2nd draw now because of the limitations on when it can actually take place.

From a non pub poker tourney perspective any1 getting back in is bad IMO but if we relate it to the NPL and how it's supposed to be a fun night out then there's nothing wrong with it.

single stand-alone tourney is kinda the perspective garth was coming from, and I agree with him completely in that situation.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

fair enough. as has been said, its about fun, and it definitely adds something to the night and gives another talking point, completely fair or not. i owe one of my wins to the bat beats table getting me back in :)

All good and well guys.
Lets just say this idea is implemented.
Who is gonna bet that within the first week some drongo will pocket a few chips in case his name gets drawn out.
This is just one more thing that is gonna be hard to monitor.
Just like collusion at a table is hard to monitor if u aren't there to see it.
Dont really care if this comes in as law. I'll do my best as usual.
This is just one TD's point of view.

very good point darren. but then again, there is already an opportunity for this to happen - i.e when someone has 1200 and pockets the 200 to get his extra card in play

Is there such a thing as a second draw?!?!

Don't think I have ever seen one at the Barossa venues I play at.

nope Hausler I cant say there has ever been a second drew since I've played either...I think it must be the bigger venues that end up with that ;)

the brauhaus had one way back in the earlier days, more than 25 players are required to run a second draw. Take advantage of refer a friend, get more people in and guys i promise you will see one again :D
