Really, I hate betting this flop. There are really no bad cards that can come for us, and I don't see what calls the flop (maybe a 4, that gives up when we lead the turn). I think we get much more value from c/r the turn compared to leading flop/turn. I know the pot is multiway, but the board is dry as hell, and we obv don't want anyone folding now. Give them a chance to hit their turn card, and lead/call us then. The pot is limped so I doubt we are facing any overpairs - which have a higher chance of folding the turn when we lead again anyway.

Results:

Spoiler:
I think this is a clearer fold than many think. Turn c/r is pretty strong, and villian has 25k - do we really think he puts it all in here with Qx? His shove was instant. Most players flat with Qx here, to lead/raise, ESPECIALLY with his stack size (key information about the hand). I had a read that villian never gets out of line here with Qx, which meant that I was beat by everything bar JT.

We of course beat no 9s in his range, and are calling for a chop with 98s. If its a paint river we might also chop, but we can't rely on that. The fact that he's UTG also plays a major part in the hand. If villian is SB/BB there can be a lot of worse 9s in his range, which means I put it in here, but not when he's UTG. Also gives a lot of credit to a lot of the limping hands that beat us - 44, 9T/J9/Q9.

My read was actually 44. I asked if he would show and he said yes - I love when this works :D So I folded and he rolled A9o. Course I rolled my 9 to show that I wasn't playing around. Its weird... I was thinking about it afterwards, I can make this fold in a live game - but not online.

ok, so in the first post you said you had no notable read, and now you fill your results post full of reads!!!!!!!

of course given your reads it might be a fold (and it looks like you made a good fold), but readless its pretty much always a call.

aaron, would you call with 55-TT in this spot if you limped it and someone leads into you? there are plenty of hands that call a half pot bet? thats a good reason to lead out.

if you added in your OP that it was an instant all in and it looked pretty strong, then we can weight his range a hell of a lot more towards nines and full houses, which obviously have u crushed.

Ok just one tip and I don't want to spoil anything here but when a player raises or bets almost instantly it generally means they have a strong hand and have already planned how this will roll out on further streets.

If you had included that little tidbit of information in the OP that would slightly change my opinion. A check then an instant re shove to me reads like 44, but without any discernable reads I still make the call.

I'm with benny the cunt on this one, if you want to discuss a hand openly and really discuss it's on it merits then you have to include reads or stats.

With the information supplied in OP I call, with the information supplied in spoiler I consider a fold strongly.

So was this just a brag post? I folded trip 9's?

Doesn't it look strong anyway?

No real/confirmed reads. I didn't know that player would never have Qx here, but it was my assumption - this was based on the general, passive 888pl field that normally call here. As I said, had seldom played with villian before, and had no confirmed reads. Should've included the insta all in, forget this.

No, as you can see I wanted valid discussion on the hand. If it was a brag, I would've posted it as one.

this piece of info changes the whole scenario.

if you at least explained the full situation properly it would have helped.
