You flopped a set over a villain who has a wide range as it was a limped pot.

At wehat stage does the betting pattern reveal any sort of hand that contains an eight? The flop and turn bets/calls indicate top pair or two pair hands and doesn't indicate any sort of inside draw. But the river could be a miracle card.

In the end against villains range and the unkowns involved it is, in my mind, snap call time and then reload if he does roll an 8.

It was a terribly played hand, so I would never get into that predicament to begin with.
