Re: Complete Overhaul of Challenge Events
I don't think having pros will be too much of an issue becuase pros generally are used to play at higher stakes and the mindset required to play 888pl is completely different. I think most pros would find it very difficult to adapt in a short amount of time. Having pros play these events will a.) increase recognition of the league and b.) boost prize money.
Now in terms of away challenge games. I think the best formats for these will be deepstack (10K starting stacks), 25 minute levels. You'd surely get more numbers on the weekend. If possible if these can be held at a more central location. Ie. closer to the city as I notice a lot of the challenge games here in Vic are on the other end of the world.

Re: Complete Overhaul of Challenge Events
My only gripe is the blind levels and times late in the CBI they tend to change too quickly.
Also why not cap the last blind level in line with the amount of chips in play.
A deepstack CBI on a Saturday in the riverland what a great idea.

I have no issues with the CBI's. I think they run well and the only reason they're not getting more runners is because half of the 888pl players have not deposited into 888.

Online CBI's seem fine to me. Think the Away Challenge events are expecting more players. I only played one CBI, and it was alright. But I have no thoughts on how to improve it.

Re: Complete Overhaul of Challenge Events
I don't see any issue with people (read: not pro's) buying directly into the Grand Final, if it's a sizeable buyin and that's what they choose to do then good on them. Not even sure there should be any criteria for being allowed to do so, other than not being a pro.
I'd love to see someone try and say that will lower the quality of the field or something, because I really could spend many days telling you about some of the venue top 5 and how excellent they are at Main Events
"Yellow chips are worth 2 thousand right?"
For challenge away games I think still having to stamp up pretty much instantly pissed off a lot of people. It's a bit much to ask and Aaron, that's a big reason why people don't bother going to them (people haven't deposited into 888PL for the challenge home games because they simply don't want to, because they are tight arses). I think having only one stamp card isn't the worst compromise ever, clearly there still needs to be something in it for the venue.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

On the issue of passports - I don't think you should allow people to use them in CBIs. I get the idea behind them to make hosting events profitable for venues but I would much prefer a rake that goes to the venue instead of passports.

That's like the one thing that can't be done isn't it?
The Equipment Hire Fee (EHF) was one way of giving something to the venue for hosting, and that was fine in my opinion but yeah that currently can't be done.

Re: Complete Overhaul of Challenge Events
Deepstacks FTW. i think that even a deep(er) stack game on a weeknight could work, say beginning at 7 and finishing at midnight. maybe 4k stacks and 20 minute levels.
The late finish does mean some won't go, but i think the more relaxed structure will attract more. and players going to these events will sign up knowing exactly what time they could be there until. Most venues will open until midnight, so i dont think that will be a problem either.
I also like the idea of $25 deepstack games on a sunday or saturday. maybe a 1 o'clock start and a 7 o'clock finish??
One passport is also a good idea i think. Players understand that they should be spending at a venue, but to spend $30 and have only $10 of it go to the prizepool irks some people.
I think that the money removed from the prizepool for a ticket to the challenge finals is also a concern, especially for events will low numbers. U would say that this ticket is of interest to a few rather than the majority. Perhaps some other qualification could be used for these events.
