I very much doubt people will put their names down if they are only maybe's, or before organising some form of accommodation, so i think its a non-issue myself.

Last year - 549 players put their name down.

How many turned up?

shit this thread got out of hand quicker than it takes me to finish relations with my wife.

certainly did not mean anything serious by my post, i just saw the mention by scott ( intended or un intended ) that out of towners got preference due to accomodation,

Look i was just stiring the pot and for that i applogise.

I didnt get to go to the last deepstack and i hope to hell that the luck gods favour me this time around and i can indeed join you fine poker folk on the berri felt,
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

350ish from memory.

Hey im happy to be proven wrong, and i probably am. i was just commenting on an assumption i had which may or may not have been right, cos it clearly wasn't working in the rego thread in that very few people actually posted accom. details even after numerous reminders.

Will there be a cap on numbers this year? Utilising the dining area (where the regular friday night game is held) could fit 500-600 players in.

What are the goals for 888pl in this area?

Also, has a structure been released for this event yet? (apologies if it has already)

That last post was a super suck up Kruncie

I concur with Macca around the 350 mark and a number of no shows.

Have you considered pre registration on friday night to help soften the queues sat morning.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I also wish to add one thing.

As players you love the professionalism of our tournaments and appreciate the hard work we put in. But the hard work you see at tournaments is the culmination of weeks of planning and a lot of effort put in by the management team, so simply the events run themselves on the day.

The Berri deepstack will not produce a gold mine of profit for the company in fact we will walk away making a loss. As companies go not many look to make losses simply to appease their patrons and provide good experiences unless their a long term goals to be achieved by this.

In the case of all events sometimes we will ask players to help us out in a small manner, and to ask questions and to discuss these requests are not a bad thing, and I thank Pete in his efforts to achieve this for us in regards to players registering for this event.

At this time, in this phase of a re brand and a new competition, the last thing we need is another big event that will take up time in planning and executing and will see members of management out of action for a week. So I simply ask, stop discussing and arguing and please just comply with simple requests. These events are not easy to plan or execute and the easier it is made for us the easier it is on all parties involved.

The reason we ask for whether you have booked accomodation or will be staying with family or from the riverland is so we have an idea of how many will actually be attending. If we don't need to take up two trucks of tables then we save money and more time required as well as maybe one or two contractors time away from Adelaide.

It won't always be obvious why we ask for the things we do, but they always make sense to us but may not make sense to players. Just continue to trust us for the organisation we are and be aware that any request we make of players will result in the continued professionalism and brilliant execution of our events.

Our goals for this event are quite simple: get it over and done with as minimum a fuss as possible and then get back to the important tasks at hand.

No structure has been released, nor will it until we have a better idea of player numbers.

Yes Gundog, we have considered it, but I think setting up the event on Friday is more important than registration. And no we will not leave on Thursday or early Friday to ensure pre rego.

Rego isn't the problem, never was and never will be. And if you have to wait five minutes to register then I am sorry.

Garth laying down the law, old school style! I agree with everything you just wrote, buddy. And I can see where you're coming from.

I'm going, and if all goes to plan I should be booking accommodation for 3 tomorrow. Did anyone try the $70 rooms last year? And if so, what were they like? I had a room with Shannon and her sister but I think that was a $145. That one had a bathroom, shower, etc. Just wondering if there's a huge difference between the two.

Oh well, I guess I can ask Hayley tomorrow anyway.

If anyone looks now, you'll see someone has their name down twice for rego. Can you see why 888pl want to know if you've booked accommodation at the Resort? This would mean they are CERTAIN to play.

Krunch, Pete was saying that 'tourists' who book at Berri Resort have a guaranteed seat. Pretty sure you can see that's fair. We've spent our money making sure that the venue gets some return, we need to be sure we are playing. Not the 'tourists' who rock up in town that morning.

You'll always get those who put their name down, and then can't make it, but if you've booked accommodation, you are pretty certain to be going.

Dave, can this board handle having a reply button that sets up a template for the reply??

Krunchie, I wasn't saying people who book accommodation get preference over locals. Nowhere in my post did I say that.

I was stating that, due to last year's event having a cap on runners, preference was given to those who had arranged accommodation. Not over and above locals who don't need to, or those who are staying with friends, but over those who simply didn't state their intent. This was because, again, there was a cap on runners, and we didn't want to end up with half the people who put down their name on the thread, simply not turning up.
