Re: semi finals.
I got down to the final 3 tables in the semi-final but with the antes increasing and being dealt crap hand after crap hand, I decided to make a move with Q10 suited and was taken out by a pair of J's. Was happy to get as far as I did though, it was a tough days play. Monster headache now!

Just found this in another section (have shortened the message a bit).
This is the prime example of what I was saying.
Antis forced the player into a game of blind luck.
Not skill.

100% disagree.
You could then argue you don't need blinds either, since players are in the EXACT same position with blinds at some point.

And if you are forced to go in at that point, you aren't thinking a head enough, sorry.

OK lets have a 2 million starting start, and blinds start at 1/2 and increase every day. Then we can find the best poker player.

OH im sorry, the tournament has to end at some point, and there are not unlimited funds to pay people to run a tournament that lasts 5 freaking years.

EVERY MAJOR TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD HAS ANTE's.

Learn to play them.

Yes im in a mood!

is it any coincidence that the people that are complaining about antes (tony and bruce) are two of the tightest poker players around?

no

i cannot comment on tony because i havent' play with him a whole lot, but bruce, i will say this to you.

WAITING FOR GOOD CARDS DOES NOT TAKE SKILL. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO VALUE BET THEM WHEN YOU DO GET THEM.

the last tourney i saw u play in was the grand final satellite at the port club, and i saw you get aces, kings or queens at least 7 or 8 times i reckon. thats insane!!!!

and you still failed to cash!!!!

poker skill is to manage your stack when you DONT have cards by looking for spots where people are weak and picking up the blinds and antes. this is intimately related to playing positional poker. skill is also getting value from your good hands, which i basically never see you do either. poker skill is NOT letting yourself get blinded down till you are 3bb and then complaining when someone calls your aces with junk and cracks them.

sorry if thats harsh, but being tight is fine, but being so tight that you never ever get value from your hands is just ridiculous.

and you will never become a good poker player until you look beyond the cards in your own hand and start thinking a little bit deeper than that.

Poker is about playing your bad cards better than your opponent.

the omaha tourneys i have played definitely have them.

as far as i know, nearly all pot limit or no limit games have them. (and 100% of stud games do as well)
