Re: Grand Final Freeroll Discussion thread
with the weekday games starting mid afternoon, there is no reason at all why they can't have a really relaxed structure. the lunchtime games may be set up for those that can play in a lunch break, but the pre-game stretch could easily be a 3k start stack with 15 minute blinds

You have hit the nail on the head.
I can't find an NPL venue so I play at a private place with a lot of those who I used to play with at Gumeracha - solely for the social aspect.
Please note that I am NOT the World Champ, Australian Champ, SA champ or even the Adelaide Hills champ so any advice I give must be taken with tonne of salt

As AK said, these should grow, remember the 888PL is very young...
OK, so you might not get as many points, but:
a) who cares, you win money...
b) I would assume they are completely different leaderboards, as one is a Foundation event, the other Challenge series...
c) Qualify for the 15K Challenge semi-final to!
Personally, I think it is a bit strange that the Sunday GFF has changed to a rebuy event AFTER the season has started. This gives an advantage to those that qualified via this event prior to that change. It also isnt even listed in the printed version of the game schedule, so I didnt even notice it was on until like week 3 or 4... (yes, partly my fault, but i didnt think there would be games NOT on the schedule handed out at the away venues)
And why don't the rebuys go into the prizepool for that particular game? And as they don't this (I think) whould be specified in the tournament lobby. I played last week (although started late) not even realizing it had changed to a rebuym and thought "well even if I dont WIN, cashing will be more worth it as the rebuys will boost the prizepool", but not so... Gladly I noticed this before I had made too many rebuys.
Slightly off topic, but in the monthly GF qualifying game, what are the stats like how many runners, how many bought directly in v satellited via the 5.50 games?

so?
it would definitely make people more likely to deposit
but the games as they are are steadily growing, they will get there in time - but the fact is, the freerolls will always have more runners
Not that it would even come into practice, but come on. 2x or 3x points is totally unfair just because the game is a challenge venue. You know what its like in the AK Big Hair rebuy, no one rebuys because no one has deposited on 888. Having one event that essentially rewards double points is already screwing up the leaderboard system.
The live challenge events had 2x points towards leaderboards last season in home events i assume they are this season as well, so why shouldn't they for online events as well?
It would encourage more people to make deposits on 888.

This is the exact reason why they shouldn't - Double points December was a disaster.
