No Pro is going to go near a super turbo structure with a 10 foot pole! Nor would they be interested in a 100K prizepool event (and thats the biggest 888PL offers). They might play it as a 'pro appearance' to lift the profile of 888pl if invited to, but that would be the only reason. Even the MEs are still super turbos, just slightly better structure.

Illegal to charge players to play outside of the Casino in SA. reckon thats why they ditched the $3 Equipment hire fee, its basically charging just to play.

Great post overall Grant, but I'll touch on what I find the most important.

Grant Pepper wrote:I personally have heard negitive feedback about the stucture used for deep stacks for the Parafield Gardens event. As a couple they gave me feedback, and said they wouldn't return. Overall the feedback basicly says it is very hard to run a deep start in the time set by our tournaments. (e.g 7:30pm - 10:30/11pm) they said the blinds are designed to completely destory the meaning of deepstack, if you went deep into the game. Blinds start fine, but then jump hard and to fast. They understood the timeline, but they also said final table is bingo. you must make a move even with 100-300K infront of you as the blinds just hurt. best comment line by them was, 1 orbit on a final table at best will eat 30-50% of your stack when 9 handed.

This.

Grant isn't the only one hearing negative feedback about events being a crapshoot when everyone gets deep. Heard a lot of comments like this at Berri. It was deep at the start yes, but blinds escalated so fast that the average stack was 8-15bbs. Same thing happened at states, final 20 the avg was 12bbs.

Not really a "deepstack" tournament. I'm really hoping the GF is a true "2 day" event.

You would be suprised, I have already been approached by several high profile Australian players on trying to qualify for the 888PL Grand Final.

As long as its not turbo near the end stages, then yeah, we are talking!

Damn, I liked Grant's post.
