bennymacca, I know it is the same for everyone, but it affects some of us more than others. If you take a look at the state leaderboard for Victoria, 2 weeks or a week ago, you could have seen that Peter Minca has had a great few weeks this season. He should have done enough to retain his 2nd place, or perhaps been able to better it. within the first 4 days of dd, he dropped down to 9th ..and the players who have now come into the top 10, were nowhere to be seen before.
My point here is, and Garth has admitted that it was not done right, that no one knew when they set out at the start of the season, the dd was going to occur, or that it was going to last for 3 weeks. and while it affects everyone, some will have a greater advantage than others - those who are getting the cards, not those who are having a dry spell from good or playable hands.
so after all the hard work Pete did, and where he got himself, someone shifted the goal posts and that made a difference to what he NOW has to do to achieve the same thing, when he should have been able to sit back and enjoy his poker, knowing that he was up there and had done his best to get there. Now his best is not good enough.
don't take me wrong, I have discussed this with garth here in the forum, and I think a week of double points during a season is a great idea, but not at no notice, not for 3 weeks and not at the end of the season -especially not at christmas when at least 2 people I know chose to play poker due to dd as they needed the points to qualify for the state final, instead of going to their kid's school concert. One of these may end up being told to leave because of this - right on christmas, how will that affect his kids???
again, this is frustration coming into these things, or the possible repercussions to people, and this should be obvious.
If you want to do something like this, let us know at the start of the season so we can work out how we will deal with it, again, giving us all a level playing field, not just throw it in any old time.

Double Points Dececmber didn't work, and wasn't done right. Garth has admitted this.
So really, it should be the end of the story.
I've seen the same complaint written a number of times now.

Re: Double December leaderboard
Its great to see that double december has made the top 50 on the state leaderboard an actual consideration for country players.
I counted at least 5 players from the country in the top 50 (and i only know the B&G'ers and the riverlanders).
So im gonna be the first one to say, that i don't really mind double december. Its certainly made for some talking points, and spiced up the last 3 weeks at my regular venue.
Instead of so many people complaining about the things in the world (and in NPL) that they cannot change, why not just make the best of the situation in front of you?
Numbers at my venue (Waikerie Club) had been slowly declining from 45 a few seasons ago to mid-low 30's now, so hopefully double december will get a few players coming back, as well as keep the regulars from dropping off and making numbers even lower.
Who cares if it mucks up your averages, any stats page created for players could quite easily have points earned in double december weeks halved, so its not a real issue in my opinion. People remember who actually won the state/regional/venue leaderboard, not what average they got, so again distorted averages is not a real issue.
Double december is certainly not ideal, but hey we still get to have a few drinks, chat with our mates and play the best game in the world. Its still all good. The day we go to poker JUST for the points and not for the challenges of the game or the chats with our mates is the day we should reconsider how much of it we are actually playing...

Never a more true word has been spoken.
Well said mate.
I also like double december because it will help me beat macka by even more points this season.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Good work Bobby
To everyone else.
It's not like they are going to change it now. Garth has said it's been a bad idea. But they are going through with it for this season. Deal with it and move on ffs.
Some people are really making fools and idiots of themselves by going on and on and on and on and on about this.

Re: Double December leaderboard
Adam TD .. did Wayne get there as a result of a game on december 1, or was he there before hand ... and congrats to him for getting there.
he had 15 scores (other than 10/20) on the friday before, and hit a massive 154.4 on december 1st, and that would have wiped out his lowest score of 32.4, giving him a whopping addition of 122 points from his 4th placing, and moving his average up by 8 points.
since then, with what he has added, taking off the 2 lowest, he has gained approximately another 90 points, adding another 6 clear points to his average, totalling a gain of 14 in a week .. that is huge!
It is nice to see a td proud to have a state ldb winner in his region, and nothing against the players who are now up there. I have nothing against them, they are playing with the rules in place and it is working for them. and that's the way it is.

Bloody hell your right Des. So, if they are, frustrated, making poor judgements at the poker table or just having troubles when using the toilet????
They should try taking "Two humour pills a day and see if it gets you over that hump in their life
"MY THEORY IN LIFE AS I KNOW IT NOW, IS TO TAKE CARE AND ENJOY LIFE, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL JUST SNEAK UP AND BITE YOU ON THE ARSE".

Re: Double December leaderboard
Hi, I know this has been talked over many times but double points December is unfair and hurts constant players.
I have qualified for the last 11 state finals in a row and never been under threat of not qualifying because I pull constant results every season. (Season 1 points system was unfair and fortunately fixed)
This season is the first time I am worried I will not qualify.
I do not get there by one big random result but by lots of placing’s every week.
Double points December has destroyed my leaderboard standings that took a season to gain in one week, by players that have done poorly most of the season but have had one good night.
How is that fair?
I know the league is evolving and testing what works, but Double points December is a dud and will cost me and other truly constant players.
Also for the players that claim we all have equal chance to do well on double points December clearly have not played venue poker long enough to understand how you can get runs of good luck and bad luck in cards (play long enough and you will got a good amount of both).
In the short term of a leaderboard it is far more to do with luck than the long term.
Sorry to all to bring up the same old subject again but I wanted to get my two bobs worth in as well.
