finally, what about some sort of "loyalty" tournament/bonus/prize/incentive?
i.e if someone plays all 10 games at a venue, then, as a reward for not dropping venues late in the season, they get entry so some sort of tournament? even if its just tickets into a raffle or something - might be enough to keep someone playing in the last 3 weeks of season when they are out of state finals contention
if someone plays all 10 games at multiple venues, then maybe they can get something extra - extra reffle tickets?
might not be a raffle, might be something else
this might be a silly idea, let me know what you think.

rcon wrote:So the opportunity to make the advanced plays depends on you having gotten lucky enough earlier (to stop you being blinded out) to be dealt a hand worth pushing on AND having that hand hit. Then you need to have your advanced play go right, because you've only got enough chips to make one "move" (I'm not referring to all-in here). Thats the bit I don't like.
isn't this just a fact of life for a turbo tournament format?

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
dug we dont need more chips 2 play better poker all more chips means is we have more 2 take off weaker players if u cant play with 1000 why dont we start with 10,000 will that help you to play better i dont think so you will still have the same problem because everybody has the same and they will just make larger raises why dont we just let dug start with 1000 more than everybody else its the only way 2 solve this but if he is venue winner remember he wasnt keen on the trophy idea

At what point then does a stack allow you to play better poker? Why not start with only 500 by that logic? Or even better, we could just flip coins! You see the pros on tv playing with larger stacks because it allows you to make choices about the poker you play. A larger stack isn't going to make me a better player (not much will really, except practice and planning), but it will allow me time to pick spots better, and to even make some plays at pots whilst drawing. Else I'm just gambling that my kicker is better than theirs. I've got AJ, you've got A10 - is that skill that allows me to guess that?

well put rcon. Hit the nail on the head.
Alex i'm aware of that regional final, however its not occuring in every region, and how much of that money/computers is from NPL. I thought it a bit of advertising by that computer guy any way.

Ok.. you want more prize's dug... thats fine.
How much of the 25000k season final prize pool are you willing to sacrifice for it?
Dug, im curious, do you even support a venue by carding up?

Yes, you may not have the time to make great decisions all the time, but isn't that the point of the turbo format? That you can't sit there all night hoping for premium hands.
I'd be pretty happy with another 500 starting stack though. However, could this discourage those players who min-spend to get just the one card stamped, cos now they have a better stack to begin with? They might feel they can increase their 1500 a lot easier than 1000, and don't need the card anymore.
I think I've only ever played one or two games of NPL where I didn't stamp up a card or 2 (one where I left my wallet at home cos I ran out the house to make the venue before reg closed). And I stamp my cards not to get the extra chips, but to support the venue. If the cards were only used for draws, then I would still stamp up.
I have found this is be a great thread, it's shown me the thought process of some other players... Now all I need to do is match those profiles to actual faces

I like this idea benny the cunt.
Maybe not for this season but give Matty and myself a little time and we'll see what we can come up with for our region.

exactly, well said.
thats why this deepstack is gonna be so awesome, it really should allow the skillful players to make it pretty far into the tournament (which means i should have plenty of time for sightseeing LOL)
