Windsor Hotel

The Windsor Hotel, located on North East Rd @ Windsor Gardens and hosting poker on Friday and Monday nights is one of the larger venues in the north east region and potentially has a lot of things going for it. The playing area can hold several 10 seater tables without cramming players in and has the convenience of being immediately adjacent both the dining area and the bar, thankfully the players are not crammed into the sportsbar as is the want of some other venues (Tower Hotel - I'm looking at you).
Dakota is the regular TD and I'm quite sure this is what keeps the players coming back for more. Numbers are regularly above 80, often around the mid 90's. The meals are of good quality and competetively priced but there's definitely some room for improvement in the delay between ordering and receiving your meal, regardless of what you order. Regrettably, this venue is one that doesn't quite seem to understand or appreciate the extra numbers they are receiving purely due to poker and chooses to employ the 'x number of stamps per $ spent' method. Be sure to order everything seperately even though it's clearly a pain for yourself and also the bar staff who will have to serve the same person multiple times. 3 stamps is the maximum you can receive with any one purchase. Suggested 'value for the stamps' drinks purchases are a pint of Coopers Pale Ale for a touch over $5 (unless they've changed it again) or a stubbie of Jim Beam & Cola for $6, with both getting you 2 stamps.
There are worse venues than the Windsor though and overall it beats staying home on a Friday night, particularly if you get in the points.
