Semaphore Palais

Postby Des » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:39 pm

Will become one of the best venues for poker for the NPL.

Offering a $250 prize pool each week (1st $150, 2nd $75, 3rd $25 - prize split to be confirmed), plus monthly venue prizes and a end of season prize.

The prizes will start on Tuesday the 16th October.

The venue is a great place to play, and now that we will be playing in the ballroom there is lots of room and a private bar.

Buying a main meal will give you a full card. And there are happy hours held through-out the night.

Plus great staff make the night very enjoyable.

Was lucky enough to pull a 2nd placing last night and grab a $50 voucher after at one stage being down to my final $1000 - before all the reserves had even been seated!!

Had reasonable cards without anything killer and plenty of fortune, just had to bide my time and pick my moments and hope the cards held up, which they did.

Was near on chip leader at commencement of final table and drew well with the SB, but the eventual winner was on a role picking up good cards at will and when he didn't, he was drawing 4 cards to a Flush (don't ask Dessy about that one) or 2-pairing his 9-7 on the flop.

Good bloke though with a top attitude and a very worthy winner.

AA vs K5 suited... what a load of crap!! Rivers the flush. How many times do I have to go in with the best hand and lose. I layed down JJ to A10, KK to 88, QQ to AA and KK in the same hand! Crazy night and I held onto 8th.

JK played real well. Well done mate.

Cheers Des, as I said I had plenty of luck and then pretty much made the decision to settle for the best points outcome I could get after I'd come to the conclusion that the eventual winner was hot and was likely to clear out anyone he went up against, which he pretty much did.

Still have to question my final play All-in 8-6 suited v KJ (I think), but given I was massively understacked I figured I'd flip the coin.

I think I'll have to drive down that way one Tuesday night and play with you fellas!

Well, I've played against Des before, but it was along with hundreds of others ;)

I hope to have more tables down their soon. Don't want reserves with that sort of prize on offer. Any negative feedback on the night guys?
It looks like that event may become the flagship event for the NW if not the entire metro area.

Garth,

You should get TDs to take photos of the events they hold. Even mobile phone photos!

I might take my camera to the modbury tonight and take some shots.. although I'll have to leave it with bar staff as after a few drinks I might forget it :/ $4500 worth gone!

17 reserves was interesting. Made the 2nd blind level a lot longer, which kind of suited me.

Next week we are upstair which will be awesome, lots more room to move, private bar / kitchen area. Once the word gets out it should be great.

Alex runs a great tournament, but he might need some help now its getting bigger.

Luckily theres a few guys like myself and Greg who can handle things like side pots so it takes a little pressure off Alex to keep an eye on all tables.

Plus the usual NPL trophy, cards, keyrings etc for prizes.
