If you are getting a steak with me, I think you can get it FOR me.

Can anyone do a review on the Bombay Bicycle club?
-Meal prices
-Drink prices
-Stamp policy
-Photos of playing area

Thursday looks like it could be my "poker night" next season so I'll be looking for a new venue nearby.

I used to play the Bombay on a regular basis but..... not any more.

1. You need 20/20 vision or better. The lighting is barely suitable. I carry a spare cigarette lighter or a miners helmet with lamp to read my cards and see the flops.

2. The Bombay serves pints and half pints (IMPERIALS) and prices for a pint of light start at $6.25- 2 stamps. Full spirits start at $5.85 for 2 stamps. Expensive chip ups. They usually have a beer special for a pint $6.

3. The food is between OK and good but allow plenty of time between ordering and getting to eat it. They do one of the biggest burgers I have ever seen for about $11 and it's worth 3 stamps. The S&P squid is very nice- big serve for about $13. The curries are OK and the steaks are OK to good. The fish & chips is very good. Oh and the warm/cold chicken salad is probably the best thing on the menu. The 3 dips package is overpriced but nice.

4. The numbers were good to start (70) but have dropped to between 30- 40. No doubt because of the drink chip up prices.

5. Just remember 4 imperial pints in 2 hours puts you WAY OVER .05

6. After you bomb out at the Bombay it's only 10 minutes to The Royal on Hackney Road.

Hope this helps
Best thing about the Bombay is Vinnies dancing???? and TD Tim.
It's a bit like Laurel & Hardy.

thats not really gonna get people to the bombay paul lol, but might be a bit fair, they need to introduce maybe a cash prize to get runners coming but management dont really give a shit about the poker players, its a pretty successful business as is

Thanks Steve. With so many venues now and lots of incentives to play at their venue there are a lot of things to consider. Many players don't even chip up now. Don't spend a cent at the venue.
The venues don't make enough money and close down. See Garth's post.

Cheers
