whats more beneficial for the venue?

getting 60 runners and each one buying 2-3 drinks each, or getting 34 runners because you have forced them to buy at least 4 drinks.

i know we are spoilt in our region (AK bruce and others would agree with this), but still, changing your stamp policy so that you have to buy 4 times more drinks to get stamped up is not gonna bode well for business.

4 drinks?

I don't think that's really too bad - unless you're talking about 1 card!!

4 drinks for two cards is pretty much standard really I would think. Anything less and you'd be a very happy punter.

Bearing in mind I'm not sure what they changed it to... you guys were thoroughly spoilt for $ per stamp.

Seriously... buying a coke and having 2 cards filled was ridiculous.

benny the cunt... behave.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

AceLosesKing wrote:I can tell you now, coming from Gawler, the major reason most of our venues get so many runners is because the bar staff are so generous with stamps. The players are accustomed to it now, and anything less is sacrilege.

For example, last month the Old Spot would get 45-55 runners. The first week after their stamp policy changed? 34.

This alone brings up a VERY good point.
One of the venues I do play at, we had one of the barstaff who is has the most beautiful personality, ALL the players love her....

She was generous with the stamps and every player went to her to purchase drinks or get any service at all and she always stamped us up and was extremely fair.
She also did the best job at table service while we played.

A newbie bargirl came in and saw the way she served and proceeded to tell the upper level manager about her practices.

She was removed!
Since being removed, numbers have dropped off, players do not order nearly as many drinks from the table service, nor do they frequently buy from the same bar she used to serve at.

We have protested, told managment we want the other girl back but to no avail.

So again it boils down to ... where is the respect for the customers???

:D

The thing is, that's the standard now - across Gawler, at least. Anything less (ok, buying 2 cokes for 8 stamps would still fly) will see a drop in runners.

yeah like i said, i think we were spoilt, we really were.

but we used to get fully stamped up for a coke, now its gonna cost at least 4 pints to get stamped up.

i may be whingeing here, but i just cant do that on monday night.

and maybe just because it was such a big change in policy, and us country folk dont like change.

AK is right, its because its the standard across the region.

city punters have had it like that for ages, but then again, they have a lot more options, and can make better choices of venues.
