I have decided not to play today so I will be doing the best I can to deliver some exciting hands and up to date chipcounts as the day progresses.

Today we have four qualifiers enter into Event 1; Patrick Lynch, Sergio Kacanas, Stewart Gatt and Liza Tutaha.

We will also see 888PL poster boys Kon Koroneos and Pat Dillon splash their hard earned into buying into this event!

If I find other regs or you are aware of anyone else you want me to keep track of please let me know in the Shout thread.

Today is expected to be the largest of the Day 1 fields and also the toughest, as many players will now treat this as a regular Day 1 event; with no opportunity to buy back in.

Out of our qualifiers thus far we have three that have progressed to day 2 (I am unsure of the gents that played in 1a at this stag).

Mike "BionicMike" Raines (VIC) will return on Sunday with 60,000, Josh "D-Braksdale" Ijsenbruk (VIC) will come back with 56,000 and Allan "Prickle" Dacre (QLD) will sit down with 33,000.

Regular 888PL player Hamish Modra (SA) has made it through to Day 2 with approx 50,000.

The average stack from yesterday was 67,000. and play will commence at 1500/3000.

We should only be a few spots from the money as well (1a - 294 starters/37 finished the day, 1b - 284 starters/40 finished the day)

Not much to report in the early goings.

I have put some editorial pieces on the 888PL FB page and will be monitoring the tables as the day progresses.

I arrive at table 12 to find Chris Whitmee facing a bet of 900 from the Dealer button with the board showing K, 8, 5 rainbow.
Chris check raises to 2,200 and after some taking the villain lays it down.

It looks like the pre flop pot was worth about 1200. With that Chris moves above his start stack to 11K.

Stewie Gatt is down to 5k after his flopped straight is overtaken by runner, runner boat.

Billy "the cros" has just joined Patrick "Wombat" Lynch's table, Pat looks to be travelling well and is up to 15K. I expect a deep run from Pat, especially with his style of play.

Kon looks to have also taken a hit and is down to 6K.

More to come as I track them all down!

Stewie Gatt is out; I missed the action but he tells me that his AA was cracked by 8,2.

I also managed to catch Chris Bonato's bust out hand from the very same table.

I arrived to find the preflop pot worth about 11k (one player all in and called by the DB and Chris in Middle position).

The flop falls K, Q, 7 rainbow and Chris open ships his stack into the middle, I didn't get a count here but it looked to be about 7K.

Dealer button snap calls with QQ. Chris has AT.

The turn brings an A and the river completes with an 8 to send Chris to the rail.

20 minutes out from the break and here are the chip counts for the players:

I arrive at Carmine's table to find him min raising from UTG to 400.
The dealer button and BB both call and we go to a flop of

8,9,4 rainbow.

Carmine leads for 500 and finds two callers once more.

The turn card is the 5d making the board completely rainbow and again Carmine leads, this time for 1025.

Again we have two callers.

The river completed with the Qd and Carmine tanks before moving his remaining 8K stack into the middle. The pot is worth 5875.

Both players fold and Carmine reveals JT for the completed straight!

Carmine pushes up to over 14K with that hand.

Kon's seat is empty so I presume he has been tumbled out of this tourney and is off to play some cash!

Chris Whitmee has accumulated quite a few chips in a short period of time and has managed to eliminate one of my nemesis (what's the plural for this?).

Chris three bet postflop with bottom pair to take down and a pot and Manny re ships thinking he has fold equity on his side (not against Mr Whitmee my friend). Chris makes the call and Manny is all in for his tournament life with a flush draw.

Turn and river brick and Chris scoops the pot, several hands later a player ships QQ in Chris' KK and Chris holds and finds himself sitting on 18k in the early stages of the tournament.

We are now on break for 15 minutes.

Cards are back in the air!
