Team NPL cashes for over $70,000 at Aussie Millions.
Team NPL had over 14 qualifiers entered into Aussie Millions events over the past fortnight. We had eleven qualifiers entered into event 1 of which all put in a good showing but none made it through to day 2.
The story to come out of NPL was Chris Fullwood’s astounding effort in finishing 18th in the Main event for a total cash of $65,000. Following up on Daniel Booth’sccess last year in winning the Adelaide Championship main event Team NPL has once again proved to the poker community that NPL is the breeding ground for young up and coming poker players.
Chris grinded away for a total of four days and was eliminated when he ran into Zach Grunenberg’s pet tens holding pocket nines. Chris flopped a monster draw with the flop holding all diamonds, unfortunately the miracle diamond never developed on the turn or the river.
Since day 2 of the Aussie Millions Chris nursed his short stack like a seasoned professional picking his spots and developing his stack whenever he could. The highlight of the tournament for Chris was when he outplayed Patrick Antonious in a battle of the blinds.
The phenomenal effort and skills that Chris displayed has yet to sink in for him but look out for Chris’ inteew in an upcoming Bluff issue as well as several other publications.
Well done Chris and you did NPL proud with the way you played.
On a side note Jason Mednis from Naracoorte in South Australia won his phase three last year and wanted to represent NPL in the Main event, Jason proudly wore the NPL colours and finished in 85th position of the Main event, just 20 spots shy of the money when his AQ didn’t hold against 66.
Jason did redeem himself though when he bought into Event 14 of the Aussie Millions, the $2,200 six max event. Out of a total of 266 players Jason finished in 14th position and cashed $6,384.
Well done to both Chris and Jason on their absolutely awesome efforts and showing the world that any NPL player on any given day can mix it up with the world’s best aninish on top.
