on the topic of "allocated seating"
i have only been playing poker since the start of this current season, previously i had only very minor experience via a few house games here and there. I regularly play now, over 60 away games this season, with a variety of Freeroll and CBI's, the CBI's are more enjoyable and better for learning than the freeroll's purely due to the allocated seating.
i play the freeroll's to catch up with mates and have some beers, but my learning suffers from it. i would love for it to be allocated seating accross the board because it would help me to grow as a player.
and O/T, i think all of the TC's and VC's are doing a great job running the events, big thumbs up to you all.
and Garth, it was great to meet you at the winstons terminator, even though you did cripple me twice heads up.
We want your input!

Re: We want your input!
i have a suggestion for you guys
dont change the format at a venue over half way through the season...
i refer to checkmates...you changed it from a $10 buy in no guarantee up to a $15 buy in with a gaurenteed prize pool of $500 + staff terminator bounty...YET YOU DIDNT CREATE A NEW VENUE BOARD FOR IT...
we were averaging around 20runners, you changed the format and it went up to an average of 50runners...bad luck for anyone who was on the leaderboard before the change...
wouldnt it have made sense to wait till the season ended before changing the setup 4WEEKS before the end of the season?
NOT HAPPY

Re: We want your input!
Getting back to the thread topic after that brief sojourn into allocated seating, you’re facing a hard, uphill battle Garth.
I have created several online referendums and questionnaires for my clients and typically the response is low to appalling. In one referendum out of 2500 members only 57 voted! In another national brand competition, only 1107 entered the competition. (all those brand competitions you think you don't have much of a chance, wrong. The odds are VERY good)
This is a universal issue that some companies spend a bucket load on with limited success.
You will always get the idiot answers if you offer incentives, i.e. 1000 chips for a completed survey would only yield a marginal increase in responses. Offset this by the number of dead responses then your gain is probably not much better than if you offered nothing.
Sunbury’s idea hits on an often used technique (the name of which escapes me at the moment) where you eliminate the idiot answers by making a series of small hurdles to jump over; a several step process, but still applying the carrot and the stick approach.
Each week, when a player registers, the TD/TC simply gives them a form with 2 or 3 well defined questions to answer and for each small questionnaire they complete a small enticement is offered and banked. Only when the series of questionnaires have been completed then the player receives their bonus.
It would have to be done when the player is registering and while the TD/TC is searching for their name and writing out the passport cards. Before the TD/TC hands over the passport cards the user returns the completed form. If you leave it up to the individual to complete it later then you will have a poor response.
In this way you will "force" the player to offer their response. Now, because of the volume of responses the affect of the idiot responses will be minimal (someone help me here with the statistics terminology. I'm a tad rusty)
This comes back to the psychology of people who fill in questionnaires and their motivations for doing so. Often the results can be skewed by their reasons for completing the task.
Promoting the forum more would also be successful.
If you come up with a magic bullet for this Garth let me know.
