Turbos are won mainly by whoever gets the cards or runs good, nobody folds.

Deepstack Tournies are more skill less luck, IMO.

i agree that deepstacked poker is more skilful, BUT there is a massive amount of theory in turbos and it goes well beyond who has the best cards.

its mostly about stack size management, and stealing, restealing, and correct shoving and calling ranges.

Yes, I get turbos aren't purely luck as late in deepstack tournies, those turbo theories apply anyway.

Having been predominantly a cash game player, the luck factor in tournies compared to cash games is something that I'm still coming to terms with [especially when you run .Bad.], but in saying that, I still love playing tournies.

This is why I decided to start playing 888pl to get the experience but as a winning cash game player, not sure if tournies are gonna be my thing?

Mmmmmm no these events should not be locked. Does it say you are ineligible or what comes up when you try to register. I notice that there are few already registered but will need to investigate.

Yes for antes but not too early as you don't want it to become a Turbo.

I made the final table of Event 1 [finished 5th or so] and when I was knocked out, it was over 10 hours in, far too long!

Also, how does the Heads-Up actually work cause last time when I was in the last 4 to 6, I was chip leader and was playing against the 2nd chip leader and the smaller stacks were playing each other???

After 30mns or so, it eventually swapped around but didn't seem fair?

10 hours is definitely, definitely the time frame i was after for the deepstack. This is pretty standard in an event of this type and I'm happy with how it plays out. It is definitely an adjustment to a turbo online structure or what you may be use to in a live venue environment.

The HU event is a 2 max event, which 888 are only able to run at this present moment in time. This means that unlike a true HU shootout event where a winner would wait for his new opponent and often stacks are reset, this is not the case in a 2 max event. Table redraws are completely random and stacks are carried throughout the whole tournament. You still play HU, however just a slight variation. Hope that clears some things up for you.
