Epic Comeback - 69 to 1 chip lead blown - 2.5BBs to victory

Postby trishan » Wed Jun 16, 2010 6:39 pm

Today was involved in an epic comeback. Got lucky more than once but it just goes to show that anything can happen. It all started when I lost most of my chips on a somewhat unlucky hand:

Seat 1: brocky0_5 ( $22,475 )
Seat 6: nplking ( $12,525 )
nplking posts small blind [$100]
brocky0_5 posts big blind [$200]
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to nplking [Qh] [Qd]
nplking raises [$500]
brocky0_5 calls [$400]
** Dealing flop ** [5c] [9d] [Tc]
brocky0_5 bets [$1,200]
nplking raises [$3,400]
brocky0_5 calls [$2,200]
** Dealing turn ** [Ah]
brocky0_5 checks
nplking checks
** Dealing river ** [6s]
brocky0_5 bets [$8,000]
nplking calls [$8,000]
** Summary **
brocky0_5 shows [7h][8c]
nplking mucks [Qh][Qd]
brocky0_5 collected [ $24,000 ]

Down $525 chips with blinds 100/200, I jam the next hand.

brocky0_5 shows [8s] [Ts]
nplking shows [8d][6c]
** Dealing flop ** [3d] [Js] [8c]
** Dealing turn ** [2c]
brocky0_5 says "gg"
** Dealing river ** [2h]

So river keeps me in the game. Jam the next hand and my [7s][8s] holds against [6c][2s]. Up to $1,050. I double the next hand as well when my [9c][Ts] hits a 9 on the flop and holds against [Ac] [6c]. With a few well timed semi-bluffs and picking up blinds I build my stack to $5k then $8k:

Seat 1: brocky0_5 ( $29,900 )
Seat 6: nplking ( $5,100 )
brocky0_5 posts small blind [$100]
nplking posts big blind [$200]
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to nplking [5h][5s]
brocky0_5 calls [$100]
nplking raises [$400]
brocky0_5 calls [$400]
** Dealing flop ** [3c] [2h] [9c]
nplking bets [$600]
brocky0_5 calls [$600]
** Dealing turn ** [As]
nplking checks
brocky0_5 bets [$2,400]
nplking raises [$3,900]
brocky0_5 folds
** Summary **
nplking did not show his hand
nplking collected [ $7,200 ]

Double up again a few hands later:

Seat 1: brocky0_5 ( $26,375 )
Seat 6: nplking ( $8,625 )
brocky0_5 posts small blind [$125]
nplking posts big blind [$250]
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to nplking [Ac] [5c]
brocky0_5 raises [$625]
nplking calls [$500]
** Dealing flop ** [5s] [Ks] [4h]
nplking checks
brocky0_5 bets [$1,500]
nplking calls [$1,500]
** Dealing turn ** [Td]
nplking checks
brocky0_5 bets [$250]
nplking raises [$750]
brocky0_5 calls [$500]
** Dealing river ** [Ad]
nplking bets [$5,625]
brocky0_5 calls [$5,625]
** Summary **
brocky0_5 shows [9c] [9d]
nplking shows [Ac] [5c]
nplking collected [ $17,250 ]

Now in a competitive position I try to put a bit of pressure on my opponent and I get a call. I think I am OK though, I expect either to be way ahead or in a race. She flips a pocket pair, I need some luck:

Seat 1: brocky0_5 ( $20,250 )
Seat 6: nplking ( $14,750 )
brocky0_5 posts small blind [$125]
nplking posts big blind [$250]
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to nplking [Kc] [Ac]
brocky0_5 raises [$875]
nplking raises [$14,500]
brocky0_5 calls [$13,750]
brocky0_5 shows [8d] [8h]
** Dealing flop ** [6c] [Qs] [7d]
** Dealing turn ** [6d]
** Dealing river ** [As]
** Summary **
nplking collected [ $29,500 ]

A few hands later its all over. I think this is the most epic comeback I have made in my career. It's always nice to beat a Trudgeon too :D

LOL that was a cooler. You should have known though on the flop you were gone.
