got a hypothetical for you
someone puts a gun to your head and tells you that you need to go to the bank and get $1 million out and gamble it.
you have to play with that money for 24 hours, and you get to keep whatever you win over and above what you get. so if you lose $1 over the 24 hours you get nothing. you are not allowed to quit at any time.
what is a better game for you to play?
Blackjack - you choose the stakes up to 10k a hand, 8 deck shoe, you dont card count but you use basic strategy
Phil Ivey heads up - he chooses the stakes up to 5k/10k blinds. he is allowed to rebuy as many times as he wants but you aren't. game is NLHE. for the purposes of this hypothetical, we will assume his mind is actually on playing poker and not on the craps table
this is a purely money making exercise, so things like the experience of playing ivey dont count.

Re: Phil Ivey or Blackjack?
If you can't count, you can't beat an 8 deck shoe, even with basic strategy.
I suppose there could be some really friendly house rules that might allow you to have a 0.05% margin in your favor, but they'd have to be spelled out pretty clearly!

What is an 8 deck shoe?
It's a type of high heel shoe that some black jack players wear. It has 8 levels of heel hence the "8 deck part".

I chose Ivey. I think you can play tight, play mathematically, limit the moves you make, wait for the nuts and do better than BJ.

it means that the blackjack hands are dealt with 8 full decks of cards. the shoe is the device which holds the cards before they are dealt.

basically i provided that information so that you couldn't use card counting as an excuse to play blackjack. (in 2 or maybe even 4 deck blackjack you can actually beat the casino using card counting. pretty sure its still impossible using 8 decks)

Re: Phil Ivey or Blackjack?
I would play black jack fo' sho'.
Play 10k per hand until I show a profit (which is possible) or lose it all.
If I get to 20-30k up, hit up the min bet option for the remaining time - 20K is a decent payday IMO.
I think, over 24 hours Ivey would pwn me - although the idea of a cold deck AA v KK aipf could make it worth it.
Hmmmmmm............. good question

ivey can rebuy as well, and raise/lower the stakes if he wants.
not gonna say what i think that means, but i just thought i would post again so people think about what that means
