WSOP Hypothetical.

Ok, krunchie and i were talking about this the other day, and we came up with an interesting scenario.
It came about after we started talking about the fact that we would definitely like to play in at least one WSOP before we die.
Lets say we had saved up 10k that we were going to spend in buy ins at NEXT YEARS series. We have no idea if we will be able to save up enough money to go again at a later stage.
Which would you choose and why:
Option One: Play in the main event.
Option Two: Play 4 smaller events. (Lets say a 5k holdem event, and perhaps a couple of the 1k or 1.5k events).
EDIT: changed question slightly. This is not necessarily the one and only time we go to the WSOP.

I chose option 1. There's no atmosphere like that surrounding the main event. I have experienced a few live main events in my short time in playing poker and it's really exciting. I would imagine there is no topping playing the main event of the premiere poker tournament in the world.

Option 1.......it would be living the dream! And I am going to play that event at least once in my lifetime.

If I only had 10K, I'd probably lean towards the 5K PLO, and throw in a ME satellite or two.

Wait, one and only time in this scenario? Hmm ....

do you only ever get 1 chance?
if this is a one time thing, then its the main event for sure. that is my ultimate poker dream, to play in the main event, and i am guessing most of us are in the same boat. so i would do that.
but if i had the money saved up right now but i could play now but again in the future as well, i would play a few of the smaller events.
who knows, if you cash in one of the smaller events, then you would have enough to buy into the main event as well!

originaly at the table when we were discussing this i chose option 2, i was imagining how i could get the best bang for my buck and also the idea of 4 tourneys vs 1 in my mind gave me more chances of running deep for a cash or even a realy deep run.
But thinking on it further i think the romance of the main event has got me and i would choose to play the big one, saying that its a heaps better structure than the smaller events so it would give you a good chance to hang around for a while.
Macca also thought the main event would give you a much better chance of playing on the same table as a well known pro than the 4 smaller events, but im not sure i agree with that one.

I didn't say there was a high chance of being on the same table as a pro, just more of a chance than a 1k event.
On second thoughts, im not sure i want a big name pro on my table if i have ponied up my hard earned 10 gorillas.

I don't think it's a very good hypothetical if it's the only time you're ever going to play. The question sets itself up for you to say option 1.
So I refuse to answer your smelly stoopid question.

the main event would have more fish in it due to the online qualifiers - chances are that you will find some players worse than even us humble souls in the first day or so
