Hi again,
Just picking apart one comment you made, then I will answer the rest later.

You asked what can you learn?
How about better stack management?
Reading all sorts of body language?
How about different ways to adapt your game, so you don't get caught up in one style?
I always learn to tighten and become more patient... (But that is just me)

You will always learn from those better than you, that is never in debate, but what I do debate is that you can also learn from those lesser in skills than yourself.

I can't help but wonder if I am alone with this thinking?

Even if you don't learn from them, you have to at least learn them

What the hell are you on about?

There's nothing wrong with that.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I think what Dave is trying to get at is even if you don't listen to what they say or practice the moves you see them make etc, you should at least be learning them as a player and noticing what they do and how they behave with respect to them as a player at the table (and therefore your opponent).

They mightn't have anything to actually teach you other than you might learn how they play and then use that against them.
