You're a Bunch of Factors

Hey people,
I am trying to set up another Big Day Out of poker. But I need to nut out a proposal to Garth so that he can get the ok from Melb. I was originally going to ask the help of the staff only, but i figured u guys will be the ones playing the tournament. So here it is, so far.......
Main tournament will consist of only 24 runners.
20 Npl players
4 staff Members
$1000 freeroll winner takes all(though i may change it to top 2, but they cannot chop it up equally when it comes to heads up, they must play it out to a winner).
In order to qualify for the event, u must win a tourni at 5 set venues(In the NE region) over the course of a set month.
The 4 staff members will qualify through our own tournis over the course of that month as well.
$20000 starting stack, fairly relaxed blinds.

Side Tournaments will be for everybody else that rocks up on the day
There will be continual sit and go tables running for the day until the the main tournament shrinks to the final table.
Starting stack of $3000
Will be tables of 10 and only 15 tables running at any1 time
Blinds will go up as soon as somebody gets knocked off the table
Winner of each table will take home $50
Each player can only play a max of 2 sit and gos for the day
In order to get on a table u must hand in a filled poker passport

Who's paying for it? Hopefully the nominated venues, but i may chip in as well.
Hopefully it will be massive day of poker
at this stage i'm hoping that it will start in April or the 1st week of season 2.
Would like every1s input on this to try to refine it, and get it off the ground

Sounds awesome, Dakota. Are we allowed to play for $ prizes, though? I thought we couldn't in SA.

You can go to any of a handful of venues each week (Cavan/Palais/Payneham et al) and do this!

Oh.

So you can play for $ in SA? I was under the assumption it wasn't allowed. Then why are we told every week to not have cash on the tables?

is this one of the cbd initiatives that garth was talking about when talk was about the regional leaderboards and regional finals for country players?

AK the state finals are gonna be cash prizes this year as well, so it must be ok. i think its ok as long as you can qualify for free - then its not like u are gambling for a return on your money.

Because it's illegal!!

I think your both confused.

You can play for cash prizes... but not put up cash to enter. They have to be freerolls.

I'm sure Garth and Dakota will clarify details further for this event.
