Alternate Barossa Gawler venue?

Guys

Now that the Vine Inn has (rather softly IMO) pulled the pin on 888PL, will you be looking to start up another game in the Barossa?

(yes i know kapunda has a game, and gawler isn't that far away)

it's a great shame that this has happened when numbers were on the up in the past 6 weeks (from low 20's to high 30's on occasion), and it'd be great to see another venue step up.

hugs and kisses
smoothy

Sorry for a delay in responce. Things have been rather hectic this week. Of course we will be seeking to secure a new venue in the region to fill the hole left on Monday nights.

In the mean time i definitely suggest checking out Sir John Franklin or Kingsford, both are great venues with great poker tournaments.

It's a huge shame to see the Vine Inn go. It was a great room and had very much it's own unique group of regulars that you don't see everywhere. I hope this spot can be filled... Tom did take down a bit of a petition on Monday night so that may be useful to use with other potential venues in the area.

Good luck...

Matty, perhaps you could try The Club in Tanunda, they have done quiz nights in the past and they have quite a decent sized room upstairs too which I am not sure how often it gets used.

I remember going up that way maybe this time last year to stay in a B&B and seeing the Vine Inn for the first time - looked like a great place! Hopefully they can get something up that way for people to go to - the crowd was loyal by all reports.

It sure was a very loyal crowd David. Most people who played there didn't play in other venues / leagues. We've only got Kingsford and Kapunda (and Clare for those that don't mind a trek) now which as Matty says are great venues but really could do with a few more having lost Vine and Wheatsheaf in recent times.

Vine Inn was awesome, 3 seasons ago or whatever it was. Then there stamping policy went retarded and it was three stamps for a $20 meal. I was in shock, didn't have to be 8 ala Kingsford, but something better should've been in place.

Next week we all stopped going and never went again.

Their food was awesome but, and by all accounts the venue had changed policies a few times, so I can't really comment on anything that has happened for like, a year or more :D Lots of good memories though, the week I went back to back (and nearly back to back to back with a 3rd) and chats with the Barossa boys was fun.

I always had a good time there.

Yes I think my most memorable moments there would be going back to back to back there last season and also the weekly struggle to watch Bruce, Maz and Ben C trying to out fold each other to the final table... Those stamp card draws were so vital at the Vine!

The stamp policy this season was fine. A meal and a drink and we were done.
