Tournament Duration

Postby mr_niceguy_1979 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 10:10 am

Hi there,
I'm looking at playing at a venue on Sunday afternoon but have another committment around 5pm just South of city (I live inner NE). I noticed that some venues start at 2pm, can anyone give me an idea on the typical length of tournaments based on the number of players? I was looking at Hotel Royal and Studio 89.

In addition to this, I would find it interesting to look at some statistics of previously run tournaments to get an idea of how long I should expect to be playing for if I made the final table (it helps when you can give an accurate expected home time to your missus!). The information could include
-venue
-night
-start time
-duration of breaks
-start time of final 2 tables
-start time of final table
-end time of tournament
-any others

Cheers
Brice

We had a quick gander at this sort of thing on sunday when we were being asked what time(s) we'd like for the double on studio89 on sundays....

From memory, Linda suggested we allow about 3-3.5 hours for a tourney.

Hope that helps you!
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Always around 3 to 3 and a half hours irrespective of numbers. Unless we are below 20 or over 180. The attrition rate is always the same. 10% of the field before the break, 35-50% of the field before the second break. And final table is normally made around the 2000/4000 to 3000/6000 blind level and normally finished half an hour to a hour after that.
