Berri Deepstack Discussion Thread (No Rego's here)

last year, people either booked accommodation or stayed with family or freinds in the riverland, or were form the riverland themselves. In that case, why does it matter that people post their accommodation details?
Once the event caps out (assuming there is a cap, word is they want 500 there this year) what is going to happen? Will all of the people who didnt post their accommodation details be removed from the event? of course not.
Well in that case, whats the point of posting where you are staying? The Berri Resort booked out easily last year, and will have no trouble doing the same this year, so why do we care?
If 888pl want to know how many people have booked rooms, they should just contact the venue.

Also, because it seems nobody actually reads the rego thread - who is going to the deepstack? what excuses have you used to get out of work / sport? or if you are just plain bloody excited, post here too.

Because preference was/is given to those that book accommodation that aren't from the area.
If they are staying with friends, cool - but asking for accommodation details stops someone registering 10 "maybes", who then decide not to go because they can't be bothered/cannot get last minute accommodation.

Wasn't it mentioned quite early on that seats would be guaranteed for those that had booked accomodation?
Also, last year there was an amount of guaranteed places for 'locals' which I'm sure would have included those who bothered to declare they were staying with family.
We as players ask 888PL to do PLENTY so it shouldn't be such a chore to get someone to say if they have booked accomodation or not.

Krunchie pete wasn't saying that adelaide folk should get preference over locals, but that all peoples should state their accommodation arrangements for the weekend - whether that be at the resort itself, with family or in their own houses (local). Not a bad idea, but im not sure that it will be used/useful.
I very much doubt people will put their names down if they are only maybe's, or before organising some form of accommodation, so i think its a non-issue myself.

I know this was a post made in jest - sort of. But I extremely dislike this mentality.
If there is any sign of an us vs. them mentality then I am quite willing to look at another regional location or totally scrap the idea of this event. I know this type of event is about you, the player, but a little bit of appreciation for the efforts that our contractors put in for this event goes a long way. And don't ignore the fact that many players want to travel and spend their hard earned money in your region over a weekend for one $5,000 tournament, where we ask regional players to travel down to Adelaide for the weekend to partake in five events with prize money in excess of $40,000.
Balanced?

By the way, not saying this is your mentality Krunchie, but I have seen it in many regional areas throughout Australia when "tourists" visit a region or town and how put out some locals were.
