Your season 2 summary

Postby andy_thomas » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:17 pm

How'd you go for Season 2? It hasn't finished for some of us, but for a few of us it has.

Total Points : 720.75
Total Wins : 0
Total Played : 24
Average Points Gained : 30.03

1st @ Oakden playing 8 out of 8 times (they finished early)
6th @ Modbury playing 6 out of 12 times
28th @ Blue Gums playing 6 out of 12 times

Obviously my greatest success was at Oakden and Modbury, particularly Modbury.

Modbury went like so;

1st game DNP
2nd game 2nd
3rd game DNP
4th game 3rd
5th game 3rd
6th game 3rd

I was thinking of playing tonight at Para Hills for the 25 games, but it doesn't really matter under the new format (not that i'm complaining *looks in Garth's direction* :P)

I am posting this to hunt for sympathy: I qualified for State Finals and I won't be able to make it!

State finals here i come!!

My region has 3 venues at which I play and I somehow finished top five in all 3!!
1st - Royal Exchange in Kadina
3rd - Corny in Wallaroo, and
5th - Wallaroo in Wallaroo!!

Hurray for me! Sucks bout new system for state leader board, hopefully they go back to the better way and id also qualify on there too!! (no offence Garth, but it sucks to know I could be 33rd in the state in stead of 109th!!)

But this will be my last crack at the big state finals as i have just become one of those horrid TD's on the YP! So love me or hate me you still cant get rid of me!! See you all next season, Merry Xmas!

This was my first season of NPL and unfortunately because I was so busy at University I didn't get a chance to play regularly.

My favorite venues are the Brahma because I can walk home, and Mawson Lakes where I registered my first win :D Unfortutely they are pulling out of NPL next season :(

Out of only 19 games I've had 6 finishes in the points, 4 of those i've reached the final table, and taken out 1 win. (Timed it well for the glass trophy too  ) Of my losses, about half of them Ive reached the top 20 at least, sometimes missing the points by only 1 or 2 places.

Next season I intend on playing regularly, at least 2 or 3 times a week at the same venue to make the top 5 at either one, as the new system for top 50 makes it hard to qualify if u don't play every day, even if i make 25 games.

I think that the top 50 should be changed to the "Top 25" players which is worked out with a "real" average, and a "Rewards" board for which can use either the current average system, or total points accumulated, for the top 25 point getters for the NPL's regulars. This will ensure the finals have a mix of "Good" poker players and "Loyal" poker players.

This way we can finally see who are the better poker players:
those that 'win' points more often when they do play
or
those that have the most 'experience' (i.e. more games under their belt) even though they mostly DNP?

Either way keep an eye out for me next season cos i'll be nippin at ya heels ;)

So with over 740 qualifiers the State Finals doesn't already have a good mix of "good" or "loyal" players? Of that 740 all but 50 have qualified through a top 5 position on a venue leader board. Of those 690, almost three quarters of these players would have played consistently across 2 or more venues, the remainder would have played at least three quarters of the games at their regular event.
As far as I am concerned these customers are still loyal customers.
A loyal customer can be someone who plays 6 games a season or 70 games a season.
As previously mentioned (AGAIN and AGAIN, in numerous posts) the state leaderboard system is here to stay, for at least the next couple of seasons, and we will continue to reward our most loyal and staunch customers through this system.
No other pub poker provider offers the prize money or incentives that we do, next year alone we will be giving away over 1,000,000 dollars in prizes and money. In saying that, it is because of you, our customers, that do play that we can offer this sort of prize pool. So therefore to sustain this prize pool and our business/competition structure OF COURSE we are going to incentivise and offer rewards to our most loyal and consistent players and at the moment this will be via the State Leaderboard.
This is the last post I will write on this matter.

Well I must say I had a great season. But, with the new system I had to change my approach to the game and it worked for me.

I was fortunate to finish 1st at Parafield Gardens, which is the best venueus I play at. 3rd at Para Hills, my second preference and 4th at Roulettes.

I was more than happy with my top 50 results as I only play a total of 38 tourney's to finish 27th with a 45.6 average. Unfortunately I was one of the 6 top 50 players who didn't win a tourney but came very close a few times.

I must say I met and enjoyed playing with some old and new friends who have a common interest and can have a lot of fun along the way. For those who don't know me, I'm definately not the silent type and enjoy being associated with the NPL.

What more can a man ask for????????????? A final table of Metro NE players would put the cream on top, LOL.

Best of luck for all who made the finals and I hope to see you on the final table, regards Bad Beat Bob

I know that this season if you win more than one seat you can't give your second to a friend.

Does this mean it goes to 6th place in the venue that you got the lowest score at?

sorry if I posted this question in the wrong thread :?
