B&G Regionals

besides the royal flush that matty dealt simon on the final table, this is my favorite hand from todays regionals.

first hand of the tournament, starting stacks 2500.

i am in the cutoff, and make it 150 to go. BB comes along. BB is a player that knows what he is doing, but is still a pretty easy player to play against.

flop [as] [6c] [7d]

BB checks, i bet 200, BB calls. the way he passively called, i put him on either a 6 or a 7. i figured he would raise if he had an ace.

turn [ac]

bb checks, i bet 400, BB calls. wow, just another flat call here again. i re-evaluate what he has, and i think now he has a mid pocket pair, something like 9s, 10s or jacks.

river [8h]

BB checks, i shove all in for my remaining 1750 into the pot which is worth 1300ish.

BB tanks. as he is doing this, matty is notified, and he comes over with the microphone. everyone that has folded on other tables is standing over watching now, it feels like there is 50 people standing there, although there wasn't.

well after a bit more tanking, BB says "you have me kicked" and folds.

he lays down [ah] [3s]

everyone is like wow, nice lay down. i couldn't believe this player laid down trip aces on a board like that. russell next to me says "you got a better ace?"

i rolled

Spoiler:
[kc] [qd]

THATS RIGHT, BEST BENNYJAM EVER!!!!!

that was seriously the best bluff i have ever pulled off. i put him on 1010, and figured that there was no way he was calling for his tournament life with a hand like that. anyway, i was really chuffed with myself, and i went on to play really good poker for the rest of the day.......

until i shoved with Ace high on dry board when we were on the bubble, only for bob to call me down with a better ace high. nice call bob. i suppose i deserved to bubble after that :D

i also have to say well done to mick wastell and russell minett for going heads up. russell was down to 1K in chips at one stage on the final table, and at another stage only had a single 5K chip. thats right, he was chip and a chair TWICE!

but some sick dealing from matty kept him in it, and he eventually ran heads up. mick played some awesome poker to take the day out

Hi guys,
What a day of poker !!! It had everything right from the very first hand, sitting next to benny the cunt when he does the big shove on the best bluff of his poker career.............that was an awesome start to the day !!!

Final table was something else..........I wish Spielberg was there filming it ..........Simon's Royal Flush, a once in a lifetime hand yet strangely enough it seemed right that he hit it !!!!, given the mood of the game.

My most memorable hands were the "chopped QQ's " to Zack's AK (that would be the first time in history he has not hit a hand!!!!), my runner runner trip 4,s and surviving all in on 2,6 off hitting the 6 on the river.

Congratulations to Mick he played an awesome tournament !!

Congrats also to all the other Final Tablists (is that a word ?) and to Matty and Darren for running a great tournament

I was going to do a post yesterday when I got home but my head was still buzzin from the whole final table fiasco.

As others have already said in other posts it was a great days entertainment and I say well done to Matty and Darrens efforts in making it a really geat day. Their commitment to setting up the dining room at 7.30am and entertaining us right through to the final table was an awsome effort and made it such a great day.

All we the punters had to do was just walk in and enjoy the day and I certainly did. I had one of those feel good days right from the start.

When went ALLIN on the first hand I wanted see what he had (read opening post) and I must admit it made me change my initial game plan to just play my blinds and fold the rest for a couple of hands. I realised I needed to set a more aggressive table image and by doing so I managed to take down some good pots.

Unfortunately, benny the cunt's demise (bubbled for 10th) was due to me seeing his first hand of the day. From memory benny the cunt raised B4 the flop I called after asking how many chips he had left to put some doubt in his mind as to what I might have. I actually had AQ he had A10, benny the cunt was first to act and we checked through to the river.

Then benny the cunt pushed ALLIN for around $5k. I counted down my chips and I would have around $3.5k left if I lost. I had put him on a weak ace otherwise he'd gone over the top pre flop and I assumed if he'd hit anything he would have gone ALLIN earlier. I called and and the rest was history.

Now the final table was a different kettle of fish. Apart from the previous posts I had some really good ALLIN plays preflop (what, Bob going ALLIN preflop? Never! LOL.) I should have known better not to go ALLIN again with pocket Jacks against Simon who had just hit his ROYAL FLUSH ON HEARTS.

Yep silly me I'm ALLIN for $40k everyone folds around to Simon and he calls with 66. Flop hits 88 rag, turn another rag, and river ................. yep proud as can be another bloody 6, for me to finish in 5th spot LOL.

And Russells run was nothing but pure gold. From $1k he trippled up, then doubled up, then doubled up again, the drops a bundle and is down to one $5k chip and doubles up 2 more times to be chip leader.

Mick Wastell was taking it so good but could not believe how Russell was not only taking his monster stack but doing it on the river time after time. I can't remember the final hands but Mick finally took Russell out and won the tourney.

I must say totally enjoyed the way the final table Guys & Gals played as there weren't any stupid plays that I can recall and that must be a good thing.

By the way, did I mention Zack was there?????? He had a monster stack most of the day and unfortunately went out in second spot with AK against QQ & QQ for a chopped pot. :o

If there are any spelling eroors or such I don't really care.
