I have mixed feelings about today. First of all though, cheers to NPL and the Ark for holding the event.
The shootout: Good fun. I finished something like 5th on my first table, oh well. Few of my friends made FT, that was fun to rail. Probably enjoyed this more than the partners event, which surprised me.
Side tourny: Interesting. But was a crapshoot from 1600/3200 (obviously, you were trying to kick us out, and fair enough. Good enough that you even held a second tourny on the spot). Was a little disappointed to be told on the FT that prizes were vouchers for the Ark, but later on find out that the top 3 received poker books. I ended up 7th, but that definitely would've changed my style of play on the FT.
Partners event: Disappointing. The blind structure was really poor. 100/200, then in 2 levels, 500/1000? And ANTES at 1000/2000? Wtf? My suggestions for the next one:
30 min levels. Start earlier in the day, 10am or so, have the side games afterwards, or running an hour or so afterwards if you want (for players that were knocked out). Same starting stacks, blind levels akin to State finals but not AS relaxed. But something a little bit more normal would at least be needed.
Longer levels is purely because in 15 mins you only got about 5-6 hands in. No time to play poker. 1 min changeover was good, talk strategy and stuff.
Just a few helpful hints. Looking forward to more FTT's tournys in the future.
