Just getting in early here Ondie... that's Parafield Gardens Community Club and not Para Hills Community Club... just in case you get it all wrong
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: $1000 FIRST PRIZE GAME - Updates
This makes me slightly upset just I just picked up a regular wednesday venue. I would've loved to come down and be a bounty, this game will be a real experience for all involved.

Re: $1000 FIRST PRIZE GAME - Updates
Quick wrap for you all. Photos & more to come after I've slept!!
385 runners!! More than double the previous regular season tournament record.
The Winner & $1000 richer - Shaun "Porky" Clayton - PGCC regular!
2nd place - Jessica "006" Szpajchler - also a PGCC regular!
Meals consumed - 290
Beers consumed - 29990
Bat Beats handed out - lost count
Initially we set out to break the 200 runners mark & host a big regular season tournament with a big carrot at the end. We prepared for 250 & thought we'd be safe. To say we got smashed is an understatement.
Rego started early at 6.00. By 6.10 we already had a 100 runners registered. By 6.45 we were nearing the 250 mark and panic was setting in. Greg (PGCC Manager) single handedly dragged out 10 extra long tables from the back store room through the throng of eager players & by the time the game was underway the rising panic had somewhat subsided.
Thankfully a never ending supply of chips & cards from the our boots meant we started the game with just over 25 reserves. A little over 10 minutes into the allotted break time we managed to seat the last of them & give everyone their well earned smoke break.
Congrats to all the bounty & raffle winners on the night. All up we gave away a heap of prizes...just a selection from the bounties.....
Raffles -
8 Seater Poker Table
4.5 litre bottle of Jack Daniels
Bounties -
Bottle of Jack Daniels
Bottle of Jim Beam
$100 Cash
$50 Cash
$20 Cash
$10 Cash
Pair of Rubber Gloves
A Hot Water Bottle
1000pce jigsaw with 13 missing pieces
5 Free Drink Vouchers
300pce Party Poker Chip Set
Framed NPL keyring set (NO, I'm not taking orders but thanks for asking )
+ 100's of chocolates, keyrings, drink vouchers & other stuff.
As overwhelmed as we were by the numbers & the suport from the NPL players I think we pulled it off with out too many problems. My thanks go out to some of the best NPL staff we have in Mark Parkin, Suzie K & Nathan Weckert. These guys didn't stop all night to make sure that everything was as in control as was humanly possible. The best staff you can have are the ones that get the job done without being asked or directed.....these guys are the nuts.....pure & simple & my hat goes off to them for their dedication to making the NPL what it is. Believe me, they didn't do this for the money....pride & personal satisfaction was the driving force in delivering a huge game to our loyal NPL players. Also a special mention to Andre Tomic who bailed on Vinnie at the Glynde to come a give us a hand....and also for delivering 30 extra tables to the venue...thanks buddy. And our fearless leader Annabelle for helping where it was needed & hanging around the whole night.
And of course special thanks & a huge "man-hug" to all the NPL players that came down to play. It was just a shame I was so busy ensuring my head didn't explode that I didn't get to catch up with more of you during the night. I saw most of you but didn't get a chance to stop & say hi. For that I apologise but we were a bit under the pump I heard of people parking up Salisbury Highway & walking a km to the venue, busses rolling up with players from far & wide.......!
And can't forget the man who made this possible. My thanks & congratulations to Greg Saunders, Manager at PGCC. Greg got on board with the NPL from day one & has always been proactive in building his games & prizes & keeping the players coming back. He continues to up the ante every time & I'm sure that it hasn't stopped with this game. We have loyal supporter base of players at Parafield and they come back because they love playing there. Thanks Greg & staff for making it another great night & always a great venue to be at & look forward to many more to come.
To all the staff, players & venure staff who made this the biggest regular season NPL tourny in SA ever......THANKS!!!!! YOU ROCK!!! (Suzie will hate me saying that )
As I said I managed to get a few shots of the crowd & of course Porky after his win.
And to quote Heath Weber...POKER WAS THE WINNER
