Marked cards.

Has anyone else noticed that some decks are becoming worn and it is possible to pick out visible and easily identifiable unique marks on the backs of them? Last night at the Pallais I picked it up in three decks at our table. I pointed it out to the TDs Alex and Barb and they changed the decks promptly. Perhaps we should be using fresh decks more often?

Hi Rhys,
Decks are changed out, at a minimum, once per season. Sometimes it takes some time for TD or operators to get access to new materials. We have also discovered that some batches have printing errors on them. We are discussing a change of manufacturer if these errors are not rectified.

If you plan on changing manufacturer I have a suggestion for you!

Bicycle brand cards (Or Bee's), made by the US Playing Card Co.

Linky: http://www.usplayingcard.com/

I am a amatuer magician and I know a fair bit about card quality and longevity, and I STRONLY reccoment these decks!

They might be a bit more expensive but they would be very cool to have on the tables.

They are a paper based card however, so, spilling a drink on them will ruin them pretty instantly, however the USPCC make plastic cards but I dont really like them (Or any plastic cards really)

I dunno, just thought I would mention them as they are really the best cards in the world, ask any magician and they will tell you.

(Also, all the casino's in LA use them if thats not proof enough.)

If you want any more info just give me a yell.

Impossible to use cardboard cards for games held by the NPL. Drink spillages and incorrect shuffling happen at almost every tournament.

I think the cards that are used hold up very well. Maybe just gotta get the TD's to keep an eye on them or maybe change decks every 20 tournaments or so.

Plastic cards are all that should be used. Copag's and Kem's would be the preferred choices. Every deck of carboard cards i've had, be it from a chip set or giveaway, are instantly folded in half until they crack and subsequently binned.
