here is the low down as i see it at waikerie
Chris croce:- he is putty 2 seasons ago but even more random, and putty proved that you can win a tourney playing like that, chris is the ultimate calling station and hits a lot of draws, but as mackatack pointed out, in generall his style isnt very advantagous he just gets lucky from time to time.
Putty:- realy starting to concentrate on his game, has developed a style that is starting to work for him and is working at it, he is still a random thinker but leaves the random thoughts for the waikerie shed games or the odd hand during a tourney but not nearly as much as he used too. His main weapon is that everybody still underates him so he consitstantly grabs those big pots that can set up your night.
Steve:- Steve realy is a good player, the main problem was that he was too tight and we all knew it, so as soon as he bet every one folded and got no value, he is starting to open up his hands slightly and also his play alowing him into some large hands that can set up your night, it has taken a season for him to develop this change, i think he will be around the mark this season.
Matty mega tilt:- (please dont take this personallly mate) matt unfortunatley to me seems to have completley lost the game that made him the man in the first 2 or 3 seasons, his main weapon was consistancy, he never won but always got into the points.
he is desperate to get that back and is trying everying and so seems lost in the poker style wilderness, i think deep down putty doing well bothers him, but above all the main problem is the tilting, it is happening all the time now which is realy affecting his decisions.
Gundog:- greahme is playing solid poker, my belief is that he talks to much about his hands and decisons so that it is pretty easy to play when your on his table, most of us have played him a bit now and i think that is why he does better away from his home venue, still a dangerous player though.
Mackatack:- matt is currently going through the same hoodoo i did after winning a season then trying to back it up, in my opinion still the best player at our venue, but just not embrasing the variance (as garth would put it) it will come back matt. a bit more time in the waikerie shed games may help
Me:- Im finaly starting to get my game back, after winning season 2 then coming 6th in season 3 i like mackatack and matty have spent a season in the wilderness trying to define my game, dont know if i got a bit full of my self or what but i think i was playing thinking i was better than my oponnents, I also belive i put all my effort last season into my shed games where i was very sucsesfull and not enought thought into the tournaments earlier in the night. the last 5 weeks have seen 2 bubbles, a 10th a 3rd and 5th so i may finaly back into some form.
dont forget to keep an eye out for Rob waye and Ryan edwards as well,
rob is starting to find a game that works for him at the club, while ed's style is a lot more suited to cash games hense his great hit rate.
having the advantage of playing all these players often i have come to realise that every one is continuosly reviewing and developing the way they play, hence the swings in results, but what is intesting is that while a few are developing games that seem to work well in the NPL tourney they dont translate when there is actual coin invlolved.
