Sky City Poker Industry Tourny

Postby zemond » Wed Nov 14, 2007 4:28 pm

Gday guys on tuesday me (Baby Butler) and 10 other NPL Staff members played in a poker tourny at sky city there were 11 npl staff and about 28 Crown Casino workers there. the final table consisted on 6 Crown and 4 NPL staff. and the top 5 were 4 npl and 1 Crown. Darren came first I came third Andre came 4th and John came 5th. No APL staff members had the balls to buy in. So guys when you hear us spin useless crap about percentages, pot ods, etiquette and so on... listen in...

And for my players who have heard me say, check it down to a dry side pot, we had the perfect example. Crown Chick AA, John JJ me K9, john check it down with me although he had a paired hand over the board, and i hit second pair on the river to take out AA. we all go 200 richer! if john bets, I fold, John gets no extra cash and then looses to AA.

Any if you guys see Darren, shake his hand he played really well.

Cheers,

In would like to add to this.
I have played with Andre and James several times, ever since they first started playing poker "seriously" they have both developed into superb poker players. Two of the best young players I see around. I just wish they had the bankroll, patience and passion to play poker like this constantly.
I try to pass on as much info as I can, not only to our TD's but to also those I play with. To see two of these young 'don't have much of a clue' players develop into these weapons is a wonderful thing.
I strongly suggest to all of our players to always listen to what our TD's have to say and that they can impart some very useful information.
A big congrats to all of our guys who made the money and especially Darren, winning your first cash buy in tournament is no small feat. And to John from coming back from a small stack to take out third is impressive as well.

And to the gentleman who played cash at my table on Friday, I do apologize. Crown normally allows table talk. And anyone can tell you I like to talk. I especially like declaring my reads out aloud. It's a dead giveaway when you slightly flinch every time I got it right.
Sean passed on to me your "thanks". I don't mean to be a *&^% but it's the way I play and I have now being pulled up by Dave as SkyCity allows no table talk of any sort.

But feel free to join one of our home games if you want the "Garth" experience again.

Well done guys, top effort!!

An APL TD has played the palais the last 2 weeks. She makes it 100% clear why the NPL is the most dominant in South Australia and probably Australia wide.

No sorry Andy.
I may be called upon to run a tournament once in a blue moon. But in this great state I have only ever ran two events. Seaford and the Woodville.
I have ran over 200 tournaments as it is. I just enjoy playing them and making players and staff (sometimes) happy, it's great to be apart of the process.
I do go around and play at some venues, I try to make it to at least one per week.
Last week I played at Lockleys and won there. This Saturday I do believe there will be quite a few of us having a go at the Hilton day event.

Fair enough, just checking if you get much of a chance to get involved with the players/NPL events :-)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's my hysterical laughter. If those guys, from that other company, ever sat down at a REAL poker table they would:
1.) Getting eaten alive by anyone who can match the maturity and common sense of a 6 year old.
2.) Constantly forget the values of the chips
3.) Being given several warnings for not playing by correct hold 'em rules and etiquette. ("You can bet anything and then the raise only has to be the size of the BB, that's our rules!" PLEASE!!!! Then it's not Texas Hold 'Em)
and
4.) Eventually be removed from the tournament for breaching rules constantly, betting out of turn, string betting, not completing raises,
under betting the minimum, exposing hands too early and just general mistakes.

I'm sorry but some of those NPPL directors make a bad example of pub poker operators and bring the game into disrepute.
I feel very strongly about this as you may be able to tell.

Don't fire up the man Pete... haha.

Really makes you wonder how they both (the other ones) survive in SA.
