i tend to agree with you on this one cougar.

seems like the NPL just wanted to get the rooms booked at the resort - which is fair enough, but i agree that scare tactics were used to make the city folk book as quickly as possible.

I'm also a bit miffed, but they *did* use the word "preference" in relation to who would be granted entry.

I'm personally more fussed about the idea of losing half my starting stack!
Going from 6.6x normal starting stack, to 3.3x normal starting stack takes a bit away from it. Mind you, it does depend on what you are going there for - and for me, it is to play some poker. I've even tightened up my game the last week to get back to playing properly!

Ok, due to Cougar's comments we will cap it at 300, and in turn we will turn away plenty of players. The reason it was capped at 300 was we allowed for 100 riverland players to play in this event. We have increased the cap by 100, we will still be turning away punters and this is the very last thing I wanted to do.

There are bonuses to staying at the Berri Resort. One of which is preferential treatment. All those staying at Berri will be seated first, along with some other bonuses, and they will also be the first to gain access to the repechage event, and by the looks of it this event will have seats limited and may only be open to Berri guests who are eliminated on the first day.

Are you attending this event Paul? Because I have not been notified.

I can't see what your gripe is with trying to get as many people as possible booked into the hotel, that is providing this event and the prize pool.

I would also like to mention that we are taking a hit on staffing this event and are not making any money at all on this project, we are doing it for our players.

If there is any negative note on trying to put on an event like this for players (much like the teams event) then we will cease to run these events.

I am putting a lot of time and effort into this, of which this company makes zero dollars but actually eats into our budgets.

So what I am saying Paul is quite simple, you are allowed to your views and opinions, whether they are right or wrong, but in the end no matter what sort of spin you put on it I don't care.

There is only one reason why I am running this event and that is for NPL players to experience something different and unique. If I need to make a venue happy to achieve this then I will market it that way. And at the end of the day if the majority of player's are happy then I am happy.

Of course NPL wanted players to book at the resort over anywhere else - nothing wrong with that, its the resort that's putting up the money, after all. THEY'RE hosting the tourney, so players should stay there.

I didn't want to, but I was going to stay at the resort - one of the cheaper rooms (the $70 one), I was going to split it with a mate. There were cheaper options but we wanted a seat so we decided to book at the hotel. I don't know what to do - is there any point booking (and paying, cos you've got to, upfront) a room if I can't get a seat? How many players are staying at the resort now? How many riverland players are in? All questions I'd need answers to before I booked anything - its filling up so fast I doubt there's many seats left.

I find it a bit hard to believe that NPL didn't think they'd get more than 300 players, though, especially if they ended up getting 600 for the teams event.

It sucks that this whole thing has become such an issue on the forum, and we can't just move past it all and concentrate on the awesome experience that its going to be.

benny the cunt,

Maybe you should thank those players that have booked. Because after a comment like that I am almost contemplating capping it to those first three hundred that are staying there.

And after these comments if we do not have the equipment we will be.

It's always about the negatives, it's never about anything else is it?

Well its 300 + 100 riverlanders.

Teams event is different... metro area and 1 day only.

You would expect less people to travel, and stay overnight somewhere to play.

garth, i wholeheartedly agree with running a bigger tournament, and yes, this is beause i have'nt booked as i will be staying with family up there.

a 500 runner tournament is much better than a 300 runner tournament.

sorry if you took my comments the wrong way, but my point was that in the beginning you said that it would be strictly capped at 300.

this is sort of what i was getting at.

i probably should have elaborated a bit more on my original post, i dont agree with most of what cougar had to say.

maybe next time you should have said something along the lines of "berri resort customers get preferential treatment, and if the hotel doesnt book out it wont be running"

i know this may seem like i am sucking up so garth doesnt cap the runners, but i genuinely didn't mean for my comments to be taken like that.

i am really looking forward to the tournament, it should be awesome.
