NPL website:
http://www.npl.com.au/Rules.aspx2/ Chip Race: In no NPL tournament will a chip race occur. When it is time to colour-up chips all players will be chipped up, with a maximum of one chip going to any player. Players are encouraged to witness the colour-up.

When you read the rules attached to the board index here, you will find this
Section 6
11. The lowest denomination of chip in play will be removed from the table when it is no longer needed in the tournament structure. All lower-denomination chips that are of sufficient quantity for a new chip will be changed up directly. All odd chips will be chipped up to the next smallest denomination during the first two prescribed breaks. The method for removal of odd chips, at final table or after blinds have reached 500/1000 is to deal one card to a player for each odd chip possessed. Cards are dealt clockwise starting with the dealer, with each player receiving all cards before any cards are dealt to the next player. A player may not be eliminated from the event by the chip-change process. If a player has no chips after the race has been held, he will be given a chip of the higher denomination before anyone else is awarded a chip. Next, the player with the highest card gets enough odd chips to exchange for one new chip, the second-highest card gets to exchange for the next chip, and so forth, until all the lower-denomination chips are exchanged. If an odd number of lower-denomination chips are left after this process, the player with the highest card remaining will receive a new chip if he has half or more of the quantity of lower-denomination chips needed, otherwise nothing.

You can quote it next time you make the final table and then the TD can quote the following to you:
"Me wear red shirt, me follow rules set by NPL SA ops manager, if you have problem with rules please send email to
garth@npl.com.au"
I say it in this manner because the "Tarzan" type language will make it slightly humorous and take away from the serious nature of the incident as no TD likes to have "incorrect" rules quoted to them.
NSW, by law, need to display their rules and have them easily accessible to the general public, unfortunately Steve has not yet changed the rules on the SA or Vic sites to reflect the rule book we use.

I like this thread.
It proves the point i have made time and time again. If any person/player has query about the rules, by all means, ask. Your Friendly TD is there to entertain, educate and be an all round nice guy.
For those that would assume they are correct first, you'll soon learn.

Ahhhhhh !*&%$
what if the TD is not up to date with the rules and continues make rulings that dissadvantage a player/s
I have been the beneficary of a TD npt being familar with rule changes etc etc, his decision actually knocked out 2 players on final table for which I ultimatly won.
Right maybe, wrong maybe, ill informed yes.

It has been raised with Garth.
However at the time I was unaware of the actual rule, the issue was raised to Garth via another member (sahara ) the correct ruling was to be passed to Todd who would then advise the TD of the correct rule.
Not sure if the TD understands the rule but only last week it came up again. When questioned he stated his position, TD Wrong, Player Right.......TD overides player so TD is right.
hi garth, just after a rule clear up please...
sb-300 / bb-600 / next player goes all in for 800 / next player wants to call the 800 but is told by other players, dealer and TD that he MUST put in 1200 to make a full bet...
i thought he, and any player following, was able to call that bet and not be FORCED to make a raise...
xxxxx made a huge deal out of it, i left it alone until i could check the ruling only to be confronted at the table by him again in an attempt to reiterate his stance, once again i let it go... his similar actions recently are bordering on harrassment. can you please inform me of the correct ruling, thanks.
Hi xxxxx,
Yes you are correct, the player has only to call.
There has been previous problems with this rule and some miscommunication between staff.
I will correct this with Todd.
