I was sitting at my computer on Monday thinking, "which flight had the best advantages going into the finals"????
I never made it past the first break but, I felt the first flight were at a disadvantage.
My reasons are as follows.
I assumed most punters like me would have woke up around 8am, (if they slept at all) to register between the 9.00am to 10.30am time slot.
For the Flt1 punters I felt it would have been a really, really, long day. I realise there was around a 4 hour break while the second flight was in progress but, who would have gone home???
If they made the final table (not like me) then they would have played through to the 2.30am finish. Making it around an 18 hour plus day or at least a 16 hour tournament.
I congratulate them for their stamina as it was a really big ask for some who were tired but they did it.
Comparing this to the 2nd flight who could have slept in, had lunch at home and register between 2pm - 3.30pm. So they had around a 4 to 6 hour advantage over flight 1.
Plus they only had a short break before joining the final amalgamated group.
Okay, now before anyone jumps on my case and says I'm sounding like a whinger I'm far from that. I'm more curious as to whether the above was an advantage or disadvantage to the first flight punter or not!!!!!!
So, I was wondering what the percentages would be of the Flt1 punters compared to Flt2 who made it to the amalgamation and then the percentages the top 30 prize winners????
Okay I know there is someone out there (LIKE YOU DAVE) or anyone else who is more than capable of working out the percentages of who made it to the amalgamation and the final 30.
Cheers Bob B

further to what bob said, i imagine that there would have been a lot of action in the last 20 minutes or so in the first flight, as noone would have been waiting around for 4 hours only to be all in blind the first hand after the recombine - perhaps a further disadvantage
but unless we start hiring out the showgrounds to be able to fit everyone in, what other choice is there?
i would imagine that it might be rotated every season so that people have different flight times etc, but i am not sure.

Hi there benny the cunt, what about a two (2) day venue????
On the Saturday we could have a 3 or 4 hours first flight, including a lunch break and then a 3 or 4 hours second flight. And have other breaks similar to last weekend.
Then, maybe introduce a turbo tourney for say the top 50 or more from each flight (or some other selection) including TD's, TA's, staff members etc. We could have a dinner break so the Venue gets their moneys worth and continue until there's a winner.
The above should finish at a reasonable time and would make a much better enviroment for everyone to enjoy. It would also give the NPL staff and players some fun and an early night, and the venue still makes money.
Sundays registration should be fairly fast due to low numbers with a 10am start. A lunch break allows the venue to make some money and play continues with short break if required until there is a winner.
What do you think??
Or better still what do you think Garth????
Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions??

I reckon you could have a closer look at where the players from flight 2 had to come from.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

thats what i was going to say pete - most second flighters were country to allow them time to get there
bob, a 2-day final would not work for country people (not B&G, further out) because of the travel/time committments involved

Hi there Pokermad. Yes unfortunately quite a few feel the same way as you described. Yeah, and most of us feel that way in a normal tourney when our chips are down. Most, would rather take a chance on doubling up or playing bad beat or even getting called back in with $2k.
Now that's another topic on the forum that pees a lot of us off that should be looked at by the powers to be.
Most punters think if your names called and you're still in with say less than $2k you should get made up to the $2k. Simply the TD would take your chips on the table and gives you the $2k.
Why reward someone who could have already lost up to 3 or 4 times if you count call backs and bad beat tables?

Re: WHO HAD THE BEST ADVANTAGE GOING INTO THE FINALS Flt 1 or Fl
Hi benny the cunt, Pete, I realised the second flight is made up of quite a few country folks and that a 2 day event maybe a bit difficult for some. So what do they do when they take holidays?????
If I was in their position I would probably treat it like a weekend away with the family like I would treat the "2 DAY BIG STACK TOURNEY" if it ever gets off the ground. LOL
I might be wrong coz I don't really understand the workings of the Reginals. But, I thought that was one of the reasons why they have Reginal Finals or am I misunderstanding something???

I know it is harder to organise but I much prefered the no flight final last season. It was more exciting in a field of nearly 700 players. Alternatively instead of different flight times you could have different flight venues like the European WSOP main event.

different flight venues might be an idea...
as long as they are within half an hour of each other
