Sure, players can bet whatever they want, but blatant all in moves, called by another regional player which amounts to J2o vs K8o doesn't make fun playing.

Besides that, I really enjoyed my first partners event, not least of all because I got to play the main event today for finishing on the final table ;)

In your opinion Dave, were they playing like that because the regional event was about to begin and they were told that they could not play two events? Do you think if they knew they could play both events; their play would not have been so drastically "aggressive"?

Yeah I have to say that having 2 different tourneys on at the same time really did lead to a lot of confusion, especially as it wasn't really clear on if players could participate in both or not.

I really do feel that if players had to buy in to the partners event then it would have cut down the number of players who were also playing in the regional event from registering as they may not have wanted to waste their money by up and leaving. It's pretty pointless to start a tournament only to up and leave and IMO you just look like a dick by doing that. If you want to navigate yourself between the 2 tourneys that's a different matter and if you feel you can play that way then good luck to you.

Of most concern would definitely have to be the communication of exactly what was happening with the stamp cards for the tourneys where stamp cards were being used. It was nothing short of very poor, there's no way to sugar coat that I'm afraid.

A suggestion for the cash rebuy tourney would be to have ONE stamp card and it's a rebuy before the break or add-on after it (players choice when they use it). This would mean a LOT less confusion as to exactly when it can be used particularly when used in conjunction with cash. There were just too many options and given most of the field were still saying 'rebuy? errggghh?' it would have helped everyone a lot.

A suggestion for the partners event would be to actually explain at all what's supposed to happen with the stamp cards BEFORE the event.
All we knew was 'there are stamp cards'. Even when we asked we got some pretty sub-standard answers and it seemed different pieces of information were being given depending which staff member you asked. I do understand though that the method of using them was changed on the day so that no doubt contributed, but still - SOME prior info would have been good. Can't really develop a strategy without it.

REALLY need to keep the partners/spectators further back from the play during the partners event. Not so easy to do at Settlers though to be fair.

On the positive side, the Main Event was run smoothly as it always is. I very much like the 5k starting stack and 30 min blind levels.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Tim is very clearly already doing a magnificent job as the Poker Manager. Absolutely anything I saw that needed Tim's input was done swiftly and correctly, he was all over it. He's very good on the mic too as anyone who has had him as a TD would tell you. Top stuff Tim.

Can we please have Tim explain stuff instead of Nathan? Sorry Nathan but you suck balls at explaining things.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I wish the Champs weekend was next weekend, because I was under the weather starting Wednesday and stretching to today, so I gave the Main Event a miss. I finished in the top 15 in the Melbourne Champs satellite though, so that was satisfying enough for me.

Good weekend of poker with a few hiccups and things to iron out.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

Most definitely.

Blinds 100/200 ... fold, fold.... regional person 1 All-In 8k, Regional person two call... that was the J2/K8 (8k all in was J2)

I was talking to some of the regional people at the first break - I asked why the people at the table were doing that and I was told "because they don't want to be there! they don't care, they just wanna bust out and leave".

"stand up and f$ck off then!" springs to mind.

I guess we can't blame NPL for the mentality of some players, because basically you're a rude person if that's your attitude towards things.

Having said that, some clear boundaries were indeed lacking.

Hi there Garth. On a positive note I enjoyed both main events Sat - Sun. I had a great run an Saturday unfortunately it finished too early for me.

Sunday was just as good but after the first break I seen my chips just fade away. Could'nt get a playable hand and was down to $6k. Nathan started counting down 20 minutes to the next break and my chips were going just as fast as the minutes were.

Down to around $4k blinds were $600/$300 plus ante so I decided any 2 good cards and I'm allin. Found A 10 off and pushed my remaing $2.4k encouraged 2 callers only to see one with pocket tens and the other with A5. Ten hits on the flop and it's goodbye Bob B.

Great effort by Tim who has a great repore with everyone and it shows. It must make your job that much easier. To the NPL team, congrats on another well run event and the countless hours that are necessary to make such an event a successful one.

Got a query for you now Garth. Before I got knock out on Sunday (today) Nathan was saying the chips will be raced off rather than chipped up!!!

Zack asked Moose "if we/he could stay and watch the race off of chips"?
Mooses replied, "no, everyone has to leave".
Zack said "but it's in the rules we can watch a chip up or race".
Moose asked "which rules" and we both said "our rules" and Moose replied "we haven't got any they are NSW's rules".

I'm not on a "let's get Moose" as I like Bert N ewton would say "I really like the boy", So I can't be 100% as he may have said "it's not our rule it's NSW's".

I'm confused as I've heard a similar query to this once before with the same reply. Is it true that NPL SA don't have a rule book or we just don't have that rule??????
Remember, It takes 8 muscles to smile :D and 40 to frown :(

The main NPL website has some 'rules' on it.

They are essentially NSW cash game rules (I'm led to believe).

You are correct in saying this has been brought up before. Season 1, 2007 to be exact and it was in reference to the chip-up in the breaks. I brought it up myself.

Realistically though - having EVERYONE stand around for chip races would be a freakin joke. Regardless of a rule, or lack there of.

Perhaps this is something that needs to be promoted by TDs - ie. it is fine if you don't wish to stay for the whole event, but don't play stupid if you wish to leave, you're free to hand your chips in.

I personally don't think this option has occurred to all of them. True, some are just twits, but some are probably not aware of the options.

Especially the option to not sit down in the first place.
