In regards to Trash Talking.

Don't tap the glass.

And i think a few too many players see it on TV and think it is acceptable. However the players on TV are a lot better than your standard freeroll player.

This should be in a different topic but how i feel about the game.

Having played many a numerous card game. Some very competitively. I find that playing any sort of cards reflect on how a person is. Such as Euchre, Gin, Spades, Hearts, Poker, Crib.

For example, taking that extra chip out of a pot, or trying to get a re-deal when one card is exposed, doing an angle shoot. Just shows that ultimately you are trying to gain an advantage unethically. Such as taking that $10 left on a table. Finding something and not handing it back. The small white lies.

The people that are super aggressive at the tables, such as those that are the mouths, saying how can you play that hand, e.t.c Are usually the ones, that are first into a fight in a pub, always doing the its not my fault, trying to put the blame onto others.

The people that play in the spirit of the game. Are usually the nicer people out there, they respect those that are in the game, and respect their friends when outside of a game. The true gentleman, and gentlewoman that i enjoy playing with.

Some people might find this wrong, others might agree. But its a personal philosophy of mine, that how people play cards are how they behave and act in life.

Brett.

yeah completely agree

mouths/table talkers = tools.

i, like most of the people that i have made friends with at NPL play the game hard, but respect everyone on the table, even if they are horrible poker players.

i try to be the first one to shake someones hand when i knock them out and be humble im my victory, even if they called with middle pair when i had the nuts.

similarly, i am the first to shake someones hand when they knock me out, even if it was the most horrible bad beat you can imagine.

then i go home and cry - but not at the table, just makes you look like a fool and a sore loser

First off I want to clear something up Table Talk and Trash Talk are 2 different things.
Table Talk should only be allowed when you are heads up involved in a pot. Other than that all Table Talk other than this situation should not be tolerated.
In regards to the "trash talk I welcome it most of the time as long as it doesnt get personal or go over board.
It generally means that I've just won a pot off that person.
In regards to the old saying "How can you call with that?" I look at it like this, If they are calling with them sort of cards I want them to call, It is the only way I will be getting paid off on my big hands. Eg; If they call for a gutshot they are less than 12% to hit on the river, I will take the win 9 out of 10 hands. Iencourage that call everyday of the week. If they hit their miracle card so be it. That is poker!!!

they are most certainly two different things - i think this thread has evolved from trash talk to generally being a tool at the table, in all forms :P

rise above their bs and listen to the tone and speed of the crap they say and you will find what your looking for. All they really are trying to do is put you on tilt, plus its really satisfying saying call!!!! when they say all in. and a minute later they head to the bar and proclaim i cant believe he made that call with middle pair lol
