Yes TD's have it hard are have to try to please everyone at the same time. But seriously guys, don't give us the 'you don't know how hard it is till you have done it speech' cos thats ridiculous in my opinion.

Try being a nurse, childcare worker, police officer, teacher and any one of about 1000 other jobs and TD's will realise that they have it good.

Yes the pay is pretty crappy and they have to deal with pissed idiots on some occasions, but seriously, you get to watch, play and be involved in poker FOR A LIVING. Lots of people would love to be able to do this.

Deal with it, or don't choose to be a TD.

I think someone has sand in their panties???

Caleb: Excellent post mate. Garth, give this guy a pay rise.

Macca: Calm down there buddy :P

Topic: Maybe we're lucky here in the Barossa, but we've got it pretty good here with our TDs (read: Matty and Darren). They're awesome. We had a small incident a few weeks back with a drunk tool and Matty handled it very professionally, thinking of his players (cos they are, really) and the venue first.

If I was to expect anything from a TD, it'd be that they know the rules, and know how to handle a crowd. Entertaining and engaging helps, but isn't a requirement.

*hugs*

Yeah i have to slightly retract what i said earlier, it was early and i was tired, and i didnt man to sound as harsh as i did.

BUT, all jobs have their good points and bad points and its fair to say i think that being a TD has a LOT more good points than bad points.
Even the bad points aren't that bad in my opinion.

Nearly every TD that i have played under has done an excellent job, and i have always had a great time at NPL.

But i also think that it is fair for us to expect a high standard of our TD's, in all areas - not just poker knowledge. Surely TD's were rated on their 'people skills' before getting a job for the NPL.

So it does seem that some of the above posts were placing pretty low expectations on our TD's, when they SHOULD be skilled in all facets of their job, not just poker knowledge.

I really do think that TD's have a good job, and are provelages among us to have this position - so don't complain about your job, you have it so much better than others.

Nah, i have knocked it back. I wanna keep playing for points and cash big at a state finals, or qualify for a big tournament in adelaide or melbourne. Long shot i know, but you gotta dream. $120 a night is good, but i don't really need the cash.

I've considered it. I mean, I'm there 3 nights a week anyway. And points... I've done enough points. I've made states last 3 seasons, finished 2nd, 2nd and 1st in my region... apart from cashing at States, or qualifying to some huge tournament, there isn't a lot more for me to accomplish in NPL (and there are better and easier ways to get cash or entry to big tournys than NPL anyway). I do still enjoy the nights though, the social side of it.

Do it Aaron you can be everyones bitch then LOL. No seriously, do you really have the nuts and fortitude for the position? And the hair!!!! What can we say about the hair? Yep, that's about it for the hair thingy. :o

To think I used to have a head of hair like that, and now??? :(

I say go for it champ as long as you don't take KFC orders I think your a goer. Seriously have a go it's gotta be more fun and possibly financially better for you in the long run M8. It'd be like a tax haven with all the deductions. ;)

Thanks for pointing out my gramatical and spelling errors Pete.
