I knew it would happen someone living close to adelaide having grizzle about the drive to the southern burbs.

think about those who live in the county areas some will have a massive drive to reach the event as a riverlander my drive will be a few hours but its no big deal, so those Gawler/Barossa players who feel hard done by easy stay at home.

Barossa/Gawler players live over 2 hours away from Seaford. Does that mean that we're not allowed to say "Ahh, that sucks, gonna be a long drive. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT, but that drive is gonna be a bummer."

I've capitalised the most important line in case you missed it.

I'm just sick of Barossa/Gawler players being attacked (well, not attacked, but... singled out) for showing their displeasure. So its a long drive to state finals/berri. Its a long drive for riverland players to come to state finals and I don't think you'd find anyone from the B&G/city telling them to stop whingeing, if they were.

just because the riverland is further away from seaford than the barossa, it doesn't mean that the barossa isn't also far away. just not as far as the riverland.

I don't think the B&G people complain that much. I also don't think you get abused/berated about it that much.

Understandably you have some issues about some things regarding travel, but, like with anything else that's "state-wide", living where you live has those issues.

It's a testament to you guys as people, as well as to the NPL and it's quality, that you are even considering traveling more than other people.

Personally, I would love the drive. The travel. The getting up early. I love getting up at 5am to travel two hours to a golf course to swear, smile, laugh and have a good time. Travel, for ME, is often an advantage.

Adelaide is quite unique in it's design and layout. By Adelaide, I mean Adelaide, metropolitan suburbs, and "close" country areas. The Barossa & Gawler region is almost another capital city. The more houses being built at new developments all over the place, coupled with the moving of the "metro/country" designated lines means that the gap is slowly closing. Unfortunately, we are a long and skinny capital with little room to move past the sea, and the hills.

I'm ranting about nothing now, apologies for that. My point is, travel can suck, and if something sucks, talk about it. That's cool. But well done on firstly coming on here and talking about issues, and secondly actually traveling.

Remember, we have it a lot better than Melbourne. Most people there have over an hours drive just to get to work, not for an event like this.

If I was back in Melboure playing this I would have to have travelled for over 2.5 hours to get from home to finals.

The only problem is that Adelaide is such a small place that a 1/2 hour trip seems to take forever to Adeladians (myself now included).

But in Melbourne there is only one venue within a comfortable driving distance from where I lived and still visit frequently.

We have it pretty good here!!

But I do understand why some players are a bit 'miffed' about the drive.

However, is there really a way to overcome this? I don't see it.

If the finals were over the other side of Adelaide, I honestly wouldn't care.

The State Finals are way too exciting to even gripe about distance!!

The only alternative would be to have it at the same central location (well, as central as it could be) for every season.

At a guess I'd say part of the reason it's not done this way is to try and help out/help promote some of the venues by sharing it around the different regions.

I can't see holding it at one central venue being fair to all the other venues that hold weekly tournaments.

Let's be honest, there really is no other solution, besides what is wrong with going to various places for these big tournaments once in awhile?

It gives us a chance to see and experience other places to play.
